Couples' Halloween costumes you need to try this year

Because Halloween is SOON people...

By , ,

Couples' costumes are, when done right, the star of any Halloween party. Whether you want to match with your significant other or your BFF, a well put-together couples' costume has double the impact. Plus, you don't have to worry about turning up to the party dressed-up alone. We've all had that fear of our friends not actually making any effort – so at least, worst case, the two of you can wallow in overdressed shame together.

Let it be known, however, that we are all for making a proper, spooky effort for Halloween this year. But that doesn't mean you have to spend an eternity (or fortune) on a costume to look epic. Whether you've got loads of time and money to DIY your costume from scratch or a tiny budget/zero time, these couples' costumes are destined to win you the ‘best dressed’ award at any bash.

We're talking legendary on-screen pairings, such as Romeo and Juliet (Leonardi DiCaprio and Claire Danes version, obvs) or AbFab's Patsy and Edina, along with IRL iconic duos (hello, David and Victoria Beckham, hi Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake!) that'll get you feeling excited about this year's shindig. Or prove your finger's really on the pulse with an of-the-moment reference, like the Joker and Lady Gaga's take on Harley Quinn or Beetlejuice and Astrid Deetz from the long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel. Jenna Ortega would no doubt approve.

We told you – there's no shortage of couples Halloween costume inspo! Scroll through to see the best costume ideas for you and bae (or best mate) right here...

We predict Barbie and Ken will still be going strong for Halloween 2024, but the question is... will you go as '80s roller disco Barbie or pink cowgirl Barbie? There's also rebel Ken during his patriarchy-loving phase to experiment with. Fur coat or leather waistcoat, essential.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling

Or take the alternative route and channel Margot and Ryan during the Barbie press tour. Their outfits were just as iconic as the film, we think. Luckily the colour pink is still dominating the high street, so it should be pretty easy to sort your 'fit.
