Okay, we may have already declared the arrival of spring, but it's taken a little while for the weather to finally catch up with our mindset. After a largely sunny bank holiday Easter weekend for most of the UK, it seems worth saying it again – spring is well and truly here!
We really couldn't be happier about it. However, the weekend sunshine has made us abundantly aware of the gaps in our warm-weather wardrobes, something we're keen to rectify ASAP via the new season arrivals on the high street. Be it a drop-waist dress, a spring-ready jacket in the form of a collarless denim design, or perhaps something deer print to nail the updated animal print trend, there is plenty to choose from.
Not sure where to begin? We'd recommend starting with an elevated basic, like Marks & Spencer's Pure Cotton Lace Insert Peplum Top.
Nothing says ‘spring’ quite like a white cotton vest top, and this M&S design is as pretty as they come. Cut to a regular fit, with a scoop neckline and an airy sleeveless silhouette, a button-down front provides much-needed gentle structure. Delicate lace trims throughout add subtle detail, and a peplum hem creates a softly feminine shape for a perfect finishing touch that seamlessly combines classic and contemporary styles.
A lightweight option for days spent in the sun, you can't go wrong pairing this number with jeans for an effortless ‘jeans and a nice top’ outfit. Heeled sandals and a funnel neck jacket will dress it up nicely for date night or drinks at the pub with friends. Equally, lean into the design's easy wearability and style it with a coordinating floaty white midi skirt and flip flops for daytime outings.
Whether you're donning it abroad on summer holidays on sunny shores or wearing it closer to home, this is sure to be a top you'll find yourself reaching for repeatedly throughout spring and beyond.
