We bang on about trends *a lot*, here on the Cosmo Fashion Desk. Admittedly, having our finger firmly on the fashion pulse is an essential part of our job as we keep a close eye on the latest looks, ushered in from the designer runways to our TikTok FYPs and everywhere in between. However, as the fashion cycle continues to operate at fever pitch, with micro aesthetics arriving and departing in the blink of an eye, it's refreshing when a trusty wardrobe staple subtly and without fuss re-enters the chat.
This season, the humble blouse, although never explicitly ‘out’ of style, has been reimagined as the spring/summer 2026 runways shone a spotlight on statement-making shirts. From polka dot patterns to oversized bow adornments, there are a number of pretty styles to choose from, but it's embroidered designs that are top of our agenda.
In the interest of combining trends for extra style points, it's specifically floral embroidery we're focusing on – duh, it's spring, of course florals are trending. Seen at Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana, nature-inspired needlework was applied along hemlines, adorning necklines and decorating focal areas. Crafted in a contrast-coloured thread, the effect is a more sophisticated take on florals than an all-over, loud print, that still allows the wearer to add a subtle pop of personality.
With fashion forecasts predicting 2026 will be a big year for embroidery and the global embroidery market already showing steady growth, it's no surprise the high street has followed suit and embraced elevated stitching. Marks & Spencer's Pure Cotton Embroidered Collared Blouse effortlessly nails the look, as well as ticking off a few additional trends thanks to the eye-catching pink and red colour combo, the design's oversized collar, the scalloped trim detailing, plus the tie-front closure, too.
