We expect a lot from our wardrobes. Rather than buying into fleeting, fast fashion trends, we prefer to make intentional purchases that have the longevity to become staple items we turn to again and again, able to be styled in multiple different ways. Oh, and we don't want to break the bank to do so.
It might sound like a big ask, but the high street regularly comes through for us, and when it does deliver up a gem, we like to share it with you. Cosmopolitan UK is a no gatekeeping zone, after all! So, consider this your latest shopping alert because we found a design that ticks all the boxes, perfect for spring.
We were casually scrolling the new in section of our favourite high street retailers (yep, this really is our job) when we stumbled across Mango's ruffles lace top.
Crafted from delicate, floral lace, the style features a V-neckline and flowing bodice, finishing in an asymmetric frilled hem. In the colour-of-the-moment – pale pink – the top has over-the-shoulder straps crafted from ribbons in a coordinating hue that trail down the back of the design.
It's undeniably pretty, but this top is practical too, as it features a built-in lining at the bust to add an element of modesty to the sheer design.
Style it with jeans, and you've got the perfect jeans and a nice top outfit. We can't wait for when the weather is warm enough to warrant wearing this on its own, but until then, we'll be layering crew-neck jumpers over the top. The swishy hem poking out the bottom will effortlessly tap into the lace trim trend we're seeing everywhere right now, with no need to cheat the look with a scarf or slip skirt.
Whether you dress it up or down, you're sure to be wearing this beauty all through spring and beyond.
