It may be the shortest month of the year at only 28 days, but February and, in turn, winter, really dragged. We couldn't be happier to now be in March, as it means spring has (finally!) officially arrived – whatever the forecast, spring is just as much a mentality.

Luckily, the weather is currently playing ball with clear skies across most of the UK. While we're not quite ready to ditch all outerwear and don our sandals just yet, we are looking for effortless ways to transition our wardrobe into the next season. The easiest way to do this is with accessories in spring's biggest colour trends. Think lemon yellow, pale pink and sage green, because nothing says spring more than pastel hues.

Opting for an accessory is much more straightforward than a full outfit and allows you to ease in by slowly introducing small swaps to the looks you've been wearing on repeat as of late. Keep your jeans and a nice top, but change your oversized black tote for a crossbody in Cloud Dancer white and switch out your black ankle boots for these sage green ballet flats from Next.

With an on-trend round toe as well as a Mary Jane-esque T-bar buckle strap, these flats are part of Next's Forever Comfort footwear collection. Doing exactly what they say on the tin, they promise to keep your feet nice and comfy thanks to memory foam cushioned heels, along with flexible, triple-layer padded soles.

However, it's really the gorgeous sage green colourway we need to talk about. The springtime shade has been dominating across interior trends lately, and is set to take over sartorially, too. And it's no wonder why. Muted without being muddy, bright without being vibrant, it's a highly versatile colour that complements almost every skin tone. As such, it should function as an elevated neutral when it comes to styling.

The silhouette of these Next flats only adds to the wearability. Working well with denim, they would look so cute peeking out from beneath the hems of your wide-leg jeans as well as paired with the floaty hems of your midi skirts and dresses to see you through spring and beyond.

We doubt you'll find a shoe that embodies the feeling of spring more than these chic sage green T-bar ballet flats.
