It's 10 days 'til Christmas, so the countdown is officially on. If you're still scrambling to get everyone's gifts sorted (guilty as charged), finish the food shopping and plan your outfits...well, we can at least help you with one of those.
Whether you're going out or staying in, we've got many a fashion idea to incorporate into your big day ensemble. Hopefully it goes without saying that comfort is key — with so much eating and drinking, it's crucial to make sure you've got room for every course, and not feel as though your waistband is going to cut off your circulation. Nobody wants that.
We've scoured the high street so you don't have to — carry on scrolling to find comfortable, affordable and stylish outfit ideas. Note: check out our current print issue for more partywear style inspo...
Early bird
If Bucks Fizz and pastries are on the agenda in your house on the 25th, this might just be the outfit for you. Ukrainian brand Sleeper have become synonymous with fluffy co-ords that work as both party and sleepwear. Why not do your bit for the planet and rent a set instead of buying one? It's a sure fire way to end up on Santa's nice list.
Cool and casual
If sparkles and feathers aren't really your thing, take your look in a different direction. This chocolate tartan midi skirt from Cos is perfectly festive without being OTT. Its draped shape means it's super flattering, and we would pair with a slogan tee to add a cheeky edge (this one from Idea will also provide an answer for any relatives asking about your career). Add a swipe of red lipstick and these ASOS bow earrings and you'll be good to go.
Cocktail hour
If you're heading out out — or simply to the living room — this metallic party dress from Aligne ticks all of the boxes. Its loose-fit, full-skirt and sculpted high neck mean it really is high fashion and high comfort combined. Take it to the next level with lace tights and a statement ring.
Christmas lunch
It wouldn't be Christmas without a jumper, but we recommend steering clear of the many novelty options out there and opting for something that will live in your wardrobe for much longer. For example, this red one from M&S will last well beyond the festive season — argyle is a huge trend for 2026. Leather trousers will create a cool texture contrast, but be sure to opt for a looser fit like that of this Agolde pair, so you can comfortably eat as many potatoes as possible. Priorities, people!
Festive walk
Stretching your legs is a good way to get everybody out of the house, and more importantly, show off your outfit. This navy shaggy coat from Peachy Den is top of our wishlist — pair with leggings and cosy socks that will keep your feet warm in wellies or walking shoes for the ultimate high-meets-low 'fit.
