Of all the trends spotted on the autumn winter 2025 runways, one of the most wearable looks is easily lace. There's no denying the fabric works year-round. In fact, it was just a few short months ago that we were donning flowing summer dresses adorned with delicate eyelet lace trims and sheer separates that oozed feminine fancy. However, for AW25, the textile has been toughened up to offer a more seasonally appropriate moody romanticism.
The main difference is in the colour palette – exclusively dark tones of inky black, chocolate brown and burgundy, per the Chanel and Fendi shows. Silhouettes, too, have also had an update with Saint Laurent and Stella McCartney favouring structure and drama, ideal for evening-ready ensembles.
As for how to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe, look no further than Mango's Lace Top with Perkins Collar. The fitted long-sleeved design features a high straight neckline – shorter than a turtleneck but higher than a crew neck – offering a clean, modern style, decorated entirely in a maroon floral lace print.
With all lace pieces, but particularly this design, the styling opportunities are endless. It's easy to layer under sleeveless knitted vests or V-neck jumpers to provide just a peek at the ornate fabric. Dress it down with jeans for casual weekends, or take it to the office with tailored trousers.
Plus, with Christmas fast approaching (don't hate us for bringing up the C-word, Mariah Carey said it's time!), this top will see you through the many occasions that party season brings. Say goodbye to last-minute outfit panics with this forming the foundation to your go-to ‘jeans and a nice top formula.’ And, if you really want to dress it up, swap your jeans for leather trousers and add a sparkly earring for the perfect finishing touch.
Tempted to play it safe? It comes in black, too! For just £22.99, you can't go wrong.
