Autumn is well and truly upon us, and the summer feels like a distant memory as we navigate leaf-strewn pavements and rainy commutes. When the temperature drops, it's easy to get stuck in a fashion rut, wearing the same jeans and jumper combos on rotation which, while comfy and chic, can bore the more adventurous among us.

But this needn't be the case, the colder months bring with them a whole new set of autumn trends and outfit opportunities. Whether it's the full continuum of stylish black boots, trending brown suede boots, or cosy jackets, there's plenty of fashion potential. And you don't need to totally abandon your warm-weather wardrobe in the process.

Case in point: the transseaasonal midi dress. One of our favourite autumnal tricks is layering up this summer staple with anything and everything from jeans to cropped trenches, proof it can be worn across multiple seasons.

There are so many different midi dresses which can pair well with winter coats and heeled boots. This includes knitted midi dresses (perfect for cosy days!) which work well with a knitted scarf, knee-high boots, a slicked-back bun and oversized coat, as well as midi shirt dresses (preferably in denim) which are perfect for the office with a chunky belt tied around the waist, pair of loafers and some statement silver earrings.

There are also more dressy midi dresses that work as evening or formal wear when paired with heels and a clutch, as well as slinky midi slip dresses that are amazing for cocktails when accessorised with a pair of heels, low denier tights and a boxy blazer.
