Meghan Markle is undoubtedly one of the most stylish women of our era and has become a style icon thanks to her chic, minimalist and sustainable approach to fashion.

From her stylish farewell tour wardrobe to that black Givenchy dress and even her first official public appearance in a white shirt and ripped jeans to the Invictus Games, Meghan has brought a touch of LA cool and glamour to every occasion.

The California native has proved she's not afraid to break the Queen's style rules (that engagement outfit, though) and during her time in the royal family, gave the style rulebook a thoroughly modern makeover; championing both small and big brands, setting trends in the process, creating the Meghan Effect.

Both the white coat she wore for her official engagement announcement from Canadian brand Line the Label and her burgundy bag from Edinburgh brand Strathberry sold out in minutes. Plus, who can forget her Stella McCartney slinky wedding reception dress?

To that end, we're taking a look through the Duchess' style file to see why Meghan's wardrobe is the one we all want to raid...

Meghan Markle just casually wore the coat of our dreams during a day of engagements with Prince Harry. The heavily pregnant (then) Duchess chose a custom Erdem coat with matching green dress, which she wore with court shoes by go-to brand Aquazzura. And if the colour looks familiar, that might be because Kate Middleton has been wearing it a lot recently. Looks like that style advice is starting to rub off...
