Sydney Sweeney showed up for the 2025 Met Gala to celebrate the opening of the museum’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition and went with an ultra-sleek, figure-hugging black beaded dress with a keyhole cut-out positioned right at her bust and sequin fringed sleeves. She accessorised the Miu Miu design with a simple bun, a gold abstract floral brooch at the neck, and a dramatic winged eye.

In the words of Taylor Swift, she made the whole place shimmer.

Per Vogue, “Tailored for You can be interpreted in a myriad of ways, but it mostly means embracing looks reflective of one’s personal style” with an emphasis on expert tailoring, obviously!

This is the third year in a row that Syd has chosen to wear a Miu Miu design to the Met. In 2024, she wore a Cinderella-esque baby-blue princess ballgown decorated with black floral embellishment to coordinate with her jet-black bob.

And in 2023, she arrived in a blush pink ruched chiffon dress with diamanté and sequin embellishment.

Meanwhile, back to this year's event. Sydney's black sequin dress is considered to be an homage to Hollywood star Kim Novak. However, rather than channel her iconic role in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 thriller Vertigo, Sydney's dress is reminiscent of a black cut-out gown the actress wore in The Legend of Lylah Clare in 1967. Kim's costume was actually first worn Joan Crawford in the '40s film The Bride Wore Red, lending extra drama to Sydney's ensemble for the evening.

All in all, Sydney looks absolutely stunning – per usual.
