It's been a few days since Kendrick Lamar performed his instantly iconic Super Bowl halftime show, and despite not watching the performance live (it was on at around 1 am UK time and we were sound asleep, tbf) or the American football game that occurred either side of the music gig, the reverberations have still been felt on this side of the pond. Yep, we are seeing people all over social media still talking about it. Or more specifically, his attire for the occasion.
Not that we blame them. Aside from his cinematic, thought-provoking performance that included multiple not-so-subtle digs at Drake, the unexpected star of the show was the pair of flared Celine jeans he rocked on stage. One social media user referred to Kendrick's 13-minute performance as the “best ad for jeans I’ve seen in a while,” and Launchmetrics revealed that Celine earned $2.3 million in media impact value as a result so consider it a fact.
That being said, there was almost a universe where Kendrick didn't don the denim. According to Page Six, the jeans were originally meant to be worn by none other than Timothée Chalamet. How? Well, it turns out that the Dune actor and Kendrick share the same stylist, Taylor McNeill.
A source told the outlet that Taylor had “pulled a bunch of denim” for Kendrick's Grammy and Super Bowl appearances, and the pair he ended up wearing for the halftime show were “size 29 Celine women’s pants that hugged the rapper’s hips perfectly, despite his size 33 waist.” The more ya know!
As for the length of Kendrick's jeans at the Super Bowl, the bunched hems garnered *a lot* of attention. Given the rapper stands at 5'5" while Timmy is famously 5'10" the length discrepancy adds up, but the internet agrees: the baggy fit worked. It might also have contributed to the flared jeans being mistakenly labelled as a bootcut silhouette, something that was instantly corrected on the internet.

Julia Fox even weighed in, writing, “Those are bell bottoms 100%” and we're taking that as the final word on the matter.
But back to Kendrick and Timmy. Safe to say, flared jeans are officially the biggest jeans trend for 2025. Now if you need us, we'll be over here waiting for Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants starring Kendrick Lamar and Timothée Chalamet.
