We love Kate Middleton's chic, elegant style: whatever the event, she turns up in the most perfectly put together ensemble. But that doesn't mean she swerves trends altogether. Instead, she subtly references the fashion moments du jour in her own pared-back way.

Don't believe us? Well, recently the Princess of Wales attended an event at London's The Foundling Museum and referenced one of the year's biggest trends: Barbiecore. Yep, our royal fashionista put her best foot forward in a pastel pink suit featuring fitted, tapered leg trousers, a v-neck pink blouse and a perfectly tailored jacket. To accessorise the Alexander McQueen outfit she wore subtle silver earrings, a pair of white, high heel shoes and a matching white belt with embellished buckle. It's a seriously chic look!

In case you missed it, Barbiecore (aka colour-blocking in pink - initially bright, Valentino pink but now a wider selection of shades) has become a major style staple since last year's announcement of the Barbie live action film directed by Greta Gerwig. As the film is due to drop in July, the excitement over the movie - and its OTT fashion - has only escalated.

The list of celebs rocking the look has gotten longer and longer, with the likes of Lizzo, Paris Hilton, Simone Ashley, Anne Hathaway and lots more trying out the trend. However, there looks like there is a new power colour in town, with pillar box red dominating on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival 2023.

Who knows what shade will be trending next season?
