Dua Lipa is having a very merry Christmas, if Instagram is anything to go by. The singer, who has reportedly recently split from boyfriend Anwar Hadid, has been having quite the festive month. Lately we've seen her wear fluffy Moon Boots with a bikini, enjoy boozy nights out and face masks with friends, and kill the red carpet at the British Fashion Awards. (That dress!)
Her style isn't taking a holiday break, either - she just wore a throwback 2000s trend that is bringing back major school disco memories, in the best way. No, not butterfly clips - we're talking about the halter top, people. That's right, that tricky, what-bra-do-I-wear-with-this trend is back. Time to dig out the nipple pasties again.
On Instagram, she shared a carousel of pics, posing with pal Sarah Lysander and drinking chilled vino in front of the Christmas tree. And Dua's wearing a golden, shimmery halter top, complete with matching hoop earrings, a tiny watch, and a dusting of gold eyeshadow. Dreams. All of a sudden I am transported back to my first holiday with my parents as a teenager, but somehow I don't think my £10 top from the mall looked quite as glam as this. She finished the look with her hair down, and glittery silver nails to match.

If you're thinking of giving the look a spin for your next night out, Urban Outfitters is big into the halter top trend, and ASOS has a good selection as well. While we might have worn this look with a glob of fake tan smeared across our backs back in the day, take a cue from Dua: natural skin is in, too. And instead of the flared jeans or ripped denim miniskirt we'd have paired this with in '04, smart black trousers or a skirt bring it into 2022.
As the reigning 2000s queen Paris Hilton would say, "That's hot."
