Back in the nineties and noughties emojis were known as emoticons. They were created using the mere keyboard buttons at our disposal – :) and ;) and :"D – so they looked a lot different, although you could get pretty creative if you had enough time on your hands. In fact, hours would be wiled away after school on the likes of MSN (RIP, babes), with many an emoticon being sent to our respective crushes and many a McVitie's Club Mint Chocolate Biscuit Bar being consumed. Real ones remember.
