The Inheritance cast: Confirmed line-up on Elizabeth Hurley's new show and verdict on who's most likely to win

Who has what it takes to win it all?

By

A brand new game show is coming to Channel 4 this month, and it's giving major Traitors and Fortune Hotel vibes.

Fronted by actress Elizabeth Hurley, who plays the fabulously glamorous 'Deceased', the twisted new reality game show sees 13 players invited to a lavish stately home to compete for a mysterious fortune left by her.

Her will isn’t just a list of bequests though; it’s a cunning game designed to reward only the most ruthless and resourceful.

And there's a twist: only one player can collect the money released from each request. To claim it, they must convince the others that they alone deserve to take all the cash they earned.

Overseeing the chaos is her ever-professional Executor, Robert Rinder.

As we await Sunday's launch, here's everything you need to now about the line-up, including who we think has what it takes to win it all.

1

Catherine - Most likely to win

catherine the inheritance
Channel 4

Age: 50

Job: Former police sergeant

From: Wales

Why did Cam apply for The Inheritance? "I wanted to do something completely different, something completely out of my comfort zone. I am just a 50-year-old woman who has had her career and is now in a kind of different stage of her life," she said.

"And I'm so competitive, and I just really want to do something for me, so not as a cop or not as a mum, not as a wife, but something for me. Just to say I did this on my own, you know? It’s a challenge."

Catherine's career background could give her an advantage on the show, plus she’s a natural at reading people, staying calm under pressure, and getting straight to the point - skills that might just make her the one to beat.

2

Pat

the inheritance contestant pat
Channel 4

Age: 75

Job: Chess teacher

From: Yorkshire

Why did Pat sign up for The Inheritance? I'm at an age where you don't get opportunities like this. It's more of a personal challenge, to see if I could get a place in the game, and I'm delighted I
did. It really is to say it doesn't matter what age you are, you are still capable of doing a lot more than you think you are. That was the principal reason why."

Pat says her varied experience has given her the confidence and communication skills to read a room and win people over - whether she's leading a meditation, speaking to a crowd, or running a town, persuasion has always been part of the job.

With a lifetime of experience, Pat comes to the Channel 4 show strong. We wouldn't underestimate her if we were the other players.

Ferg

the inheritance contestant ferg
Channel 4

Age: 68

Job: Retired market trader

From: Kingston upon Thames

Why did Ferg sign up for The Inheritance? "
It's something out of the norm. I'm 68, I've had a good life, and I've retired. I don't want my retirement to be the pipe and slippers type. I do like to run and stuff like that, I’m not old, I’m very active and I wanted to do something completely different," he explained. "I really love reality
game shows. And every time my daughter says to me I should give it a go, I always rubbish it but here I am. I love adventure; swimming, climbing mountains or jumping out of helicopters - bring it all on. I don't mind looking silly, but I wouldn't want to hurt anybody to win a game. I want to have fun."

Ferg says he’s more competitive with himself than with others - a trait that could work in his favour, as his easygoing nature might win people over and quietly carry him toward some serious prize money. Based on his adventurous spirit and self-driven attitude, he could be a dark horse in The Inheritance.

4

Cam

the inheritance contestant cam
Channel 4

Age: 28

Job: Scaffolder

From: Yorkshire

Why did Cam apply for The Inheritance? "It's something I've wanted to do since I was a kid, being part of something entertaining
and fun. I think life's for living and I want to do everything I possibly can," he said.

When it comes to games, Cam isn't the most competitive. "I like to get stuck in but I’m also the person who's laughing, playing Monopoly, not the person that's flipping the board. I enjoy
watching the chaos," he said.

This relaxed attitude could come in handy with trying to make friends and later convince the others that he's most deserving of the prize.

Emma

emma the inheritance
Channel 4

Age: 26

Job: Paramedic

From: Exeter

Why did Emma sign up for The Inheritance? "I applied to take part in the show because I thought it was a once in a lifetime opportunity," she revealed.

"I am quite confident and out there, so I like to give anything that might be a challenge a go and the money is an important side of it too! However, I am just here to take part, have fun
and see what happens really."

Used to dealing with high-pressure situations in her day job, Emma’s balance of confidence, optimism, and a laid-back approach could make her a quietly strategic player.

6

Hafsah

the inheritance contestant hafash
Channel 4

Age: 28

Job: Marketing manager

From: Manchester

Why did Hafash sign up for The Inheritance? "I just thought it'd be a really good experience. I feel like I'm the ultimate
soft girl, my life is really relaxed. Now I just want to be a bit more adventurous and take some risks. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do that," she said.

Hafsah describes herself as "ultra-competitive" and says: "I'm really good at getting my own way."

Hafsah might describe herself as a "soft girl," but with her ultra-competitive streak and a knack for getting her own way, she could prove to be a quietly formidable player

Hannah

the inheritance contestant hannah
Netflix

Age: 27

Job: Wedding planner

From: Scotland

Why did Hannah sign up for The Inheritance? "I applied because I wanted an opportunity to put myself out there, have some fun and
do something really adventurous before I settle down," Hannah said.

"I'm getting married this summer and we would like to start afamily. I would like to have a little adventure before I do all that, AND I’d like to earn some money in order to do all that.

Asked if she has the power of persuasian, Hannah added: "Oh, it sounds bad to say but I think I'm probably quite manipulative...in a friendly way! I can use a little bit of the Scottish charm to sort of
persuade people. I'm hoping I can get to know people well enough to do that with them. I kind of have this theory that the Hannah way of thinking is always best and I find it a little bit difficult to relinquish that."

But will Hannah’s "friendly manipulation" and firm belief in the "Hannah way" help her win over the others - or leave them wary of trusting her?

8

Jesse

the inheritance contestant jesse
Channel 4

Age: 19

Job: Student and content creator

From: Southhampton

Why did Jesse sign up for The Inheritance? "I applied to take part because I feel that it's something that I'd be good at. When I heard what the whole show was about, I felt like it'd be cool seeing how I would work in this scenario, in this environment. And it sounds fun. When the door opened, I just had to go through it and we’ll see
what happens," Jesse said.

Asked about his persuasion skills, Jesse said: "I'd say I'm good at bringing up my point and making my point clear to the point where the person opposite me will understand what I'm trying to say."

He added: "I'll explain until they have understood my point of view and where I'm coming from, and with that, I might then persuade them and might make them think more like me. I don't really tend to go out of my way to make someone change their opinion on
something if it's different to mine. Yeah, I like dogs. If you like cats, I'm not going to try and persuade you otherwise. It’s not that deep, really!"

At just 19, student and content creator Jesse brings a laid-back charm and clear communication style to The Inheritance - but whether his relaxed approach and "it’s not that deep" attitude will win over the others remains to be seen.

9

Mart

the inheritance contestant mart
Channel 4

Age: 37

Job: Development coach

From: Newcastle

Why did Mart sign up for The Inheritance? "The main reason that I applied was that I don’t ever like life to get stagnant. Just last year, myself and my partner adopted our baby boy and that was honestly one of the hardest two or three years going through that adoption process," Mart said.

Ahead of the show, Mart prepared by reading a book.

He said: "I'm actually reading a book called How to Win Friends and Influence People at the moment. I thought it might be good for this show. I am going to have to form alliances and win friends to keep people on my side but then I'm not going to think twice if I have to screw them over in the final because I've only known them for a few weeks at the end of the day."

Mart’s life experience and strategic mindset could take him far - especially with How to Win Friends and Influence People in hand. Just don’t expect loyalty if there’s money on the line.

10

Matt

the inheritance contestant matt
Channel 4

Age: 51

Job: Coach company owner

From: Somerset

Why did Matt sign up for The Inheritance? "I like the fact that it's not a show that I've seen before. I don't know anything about it; I'm
completely in the dark and I like that. That's what really piqued my interest at the start. I like the fact that it's going to be new to me, new to everybody and I'm looking forward to seeing how I react to
that," Matt said.

"Am I going to fall apart because I'm in a situation that's unfamiliar? I don't know, but I'm really looking forward to finding out. This is more about analysing myself, testing myself. It’s more
about that than showbusiness, fame or fortune for me."

Asked whether he thinks he has the power of persuasion, Matt said: "I like to look at people's traits, see what makes them tick and try and work on that. I’ll see if I can get a reaction from certain questions that I may ask, or reactions to things that we have to do. I
might look upon these reactions as a way of determining a strength or weakness in an individual and see how I might play on those to my advantage."

With his sharp eye for human behaviour and strategic mindset, Matt may prove to be one of the game’s most quietly calculating players.

Tia

the inheritance contestant tia
Channel 4

Age: 26

Job: Health and wellbeing advisor

From: London

Why did Tia sign up for The Inheritance? "I'm naturally a very competitive person. TV is always something I've been interested in and to be on a show where I'm only required to be my authentic self fits me like a glove," Tia said.

Asked about her power of persuasion, Tia said: "I'm naturally a people person. My ideas can sometimes be a little bit outlandish, so not everybody is for it, but when they start to see the results, they're normally swayed. I feel like once you build your reputation of having good ideas or those ideas having a good result, people will start to trust you more."

With a track record of turning bold ideas into results, Tia knows how to earn trust and win people over, all while staying true to herself. One to watch we think!

12

Zara

the inheritance contestant zara
Channel 4

Age: 36

Job: Professional gamer

From: London

Why did Zara sign up for The Inheritance? "I had just been here for about three months in the UK, coming from the Middle East, I had done some modelling in the past and I was considering my next move. In a really weird way, I believe I've manifested this. I've always asked this question to people on my channel -what would you do if you were ever on a reality show? What kind of reality show
would it be? For me, I knew it would be something about money and puzzles to be solved, that’s my kind of thing so this feels
perfect," Zara said.

When it comes to her ability to influence others, Zara explained: "With guys, it's easy, because I can kind of just flirt away and get my way. Haha! I'm very easy-going with girls. I believe in girl power
and things like that. I will back you up until you give me a reason not to, you know? So don't break my trust!"

Whether she’s turning on the charm or leading with loyalty, Zara knows how to work a room. She could be one to watch on The Inheritance… just don’t break her trust.

James

the inheritance contestant james
Channel 4

Age: 35

Job: Entrepreneur

From: London

Why did James sign up for The Inheritance? "It was actually one of my university friends, Johnny, who sent me a link on WhatsApp. I was just working in my office, and it came up and he said, 'James, read this, and I think you should apply.' I thought I'll fill it in and see what happens. And I’ve always been into reality TV so why not, he said.

When it comes to persuading others, James said: "I’ve spent 10 years convincing people to invest in essentially just paper ideas."

With 10 years of experience persuading others in the business world, James could have a real edge when it comes to strategy and influence - though in a game like The Inheritance, being the smartest one in the room doesn’t always win you friends.
