A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Add some faerie lore, enemies-to-lovers plot, and action to a Beauty and the Beast fairytale, and you’ll get this NYT bestseller. In this action-adventure pick, we follow our Bell, aka a huntress named Feyre, who accidentally kills a wolf and is dragged into a treacherous magical land ruled by faeries. She’ll have to stay alive (fun!) while fighting her feelings for the most dangerous faerie of all: Tamlin, aka the beast.

The Green Creek by TJ Klune
This seven-book series was on my TBR list for ages. The queer romance is similar to Stephanie Myers’ work but with better characters, world-building, and plot. Instead of Cullens, you have the Bennetts, a werewolf family (aka a “pack”) whose supernatural nature can get them in a bit of trouble sometimes. I don’t want to say too much without spoiling the plot, but these fantasy novels have it all: drama, romance, tragedy, and family.
The Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown
This five book series follows Helldiver Darrow, a 'Red' who lives beneath the earth and is seen as humankind's lowest class. Only, he has something the Golds - the ruling class - want.

Bloomsbury YA Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
This book is currently sitting on my window sill as I type this, lol. (If you can’t tell by now, I'm a huge fantasy nerd.) Aside from the beautiful cover art — it’s so *stunning* that it takes “don’t judge a book by its cover” to a whole ‘nother level — the writing, character development, and plot are so deliciously unique and creative. Kalynn Bayron deserves all the praise because this novel takes your average fairy tale and retells it in a dark and disturbing way, in a setting where women are abused until a group of queer Black girls say eff that and rise against the patriarchy. I mean, how could it not be anything other than captivating?
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming
Okay as much as I love fantasy books, they can be a bit dark and overwhelming. Sometimes, you just want to read a cozy and low-key story, and ain’t nothing wrong with that. One of my go-tos is this fantasy rom-com between a demon and a Black woman who are on an adventure to defeat evil. Plenty of sexyyy scenes, hilarious side characters (there’s a lesbian centaur, y’all), and angst to build up the chemistry between our two main characters.

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
Calling all mystery lovers, this novel is for you! This Arthurian-inspired book follows a 16-year-old teenager who accidentally discovers a magical predominantly white society that may have murdered her mum…yikes. It’s all not dark and twisty plot, though. There’s a sprinkle of romance and comedy to balance the grief, mystery, and serial killing demons. Oh, and this isn’t the only Legendborn novel to come — a sequel is underway!
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
A WWII nurse, Claire, suddenly finds herself in 1743 Scotland, and needs to either find a way back home to her husband (and the 20th century) or stay where she is and fall in love with a rather unruly Highlander with a soft spot for a sassenach. It's part adventure, part steamy romance.

Alina Starkov is an innocent cartographer stuck in the middle of a rather gruesome war. Unfortunately, those trying to hurt her are closer than Alina thinks....(And, when you're done, why don't you watch the A+ Netflix series?)
Cursed by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Wheeler
We've all heard some version of King Arthur and Camelot. But what if that story wasn't so simple — and featured a woman as the hero? This novel explores the concept, following a young woman named Nimue as she helps a young Arthur unite her people from the corrupt and evil paladins. Oh, and did we mention she has powers and can easily wield a magical sword? Yeah, she's a badass.

Dark Horse Books The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá
If you haven't taken the time to binge the hit Netflix show (and I highly recommend you do), you probably didn't realise the story of the Hargreeves kids begins within the pages of a graphic novel. If you enjoyed the series, chances are you'll fall in love with the characters in a whole new way. Also, this book is written by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Bella Swan is an innocent teenager who just moved to the dreary suburban town of Forks, Washington. While long-time fans know the twosome develop a lust-filled romance, there's always danger lurking in the shadows....
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Do I really have to explain the plot of this novel? If you haven't heard of the Starks, Targaryens, the White Walkers, and the war to become the king of Westeros, let's be real.... where have you been the last ten years? While the TV series doesn't follow the books exactly, this is still a great read anyway.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Shadow Moon is about to be released from prison when his wife tragically dies in a car accident. He meets a rather odd man named Mr. Wednesday, and it leads Shadow to strange discoveries, including a war quickly brewing between Old Gods and New Gods. It's survival of the fittest, where deities are the ones at risk and the world as they all know it might not be the way anyone imagined. It's a page-turning read, and once you're done, enjoy the series as well.
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
It's a children's tale as old as time... or rather, as old as the 1960s. Three kids go on a magical quest to save their father, who somehow went missing and needs their help to bring him home. With three witches assisting them on their journey, the kids' mission to find their father becomes almost as important as their need for survival. It's a quick read, and yet you won't be able to forget it once you're finished.
