One Piece fans prepare yourself, as today the live action adaptation of the manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, has finally dropped on Netflix. The eight-part series follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the "one piece" of treasure that will enable their captain Monkey D. Luffy to become "King of the Pirates". As the series kicks off, as well as wondering how close the cast are to their original manga counterparts, we're also desperate to know what they look like in real life. Monkey D. Luffy
Monkey D. Luffy is the lead character in One Piece and is determined to become the "King of Pirates".
One Piece cast in real life - Iñaki Godoy
Monkey D. Luffy is played by Iñaki Godoy who is most well known for his role as Juan Ruíz in Netflix's The Imperfects.
Originally from Mexico, 20-year-old Iñaki has been acting since 20216.
The VFX Supervisor Victor Scalise for One Piece told the Express Iñaki did the majority of his stunts for the series: "He did a lot of his own stunts. When it came to the punches, his body performance was so good. A lot of the time we were just taping over his shoulder to the arm, or the hip down for the leg. So we weren’t always painting him out of the scene. There’s a couple of ones we did all CG, but a lot of it is him in there. And it was due to his performances being so good.”

Roronoa Zoro
Zoro is one of the Straw Hat Pirates and aims to one day become the world's greatest swordsman.
One Piece cast in real life - Mackenyu Arata
Zoro is played by 26-year-old Mackenyu Arata, who is most known for his roles in many manga adaptation series including Chihayafuru, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I and Tokyo Ghoul S.
Mackenyu was born in Los Angeles and has been acting since 2015. As a long time fan of One Piece, Mackenyu told Vogue Hong Kong he was so excited to take on the role of Zoro.
He said: "As a Japanese kid, everyone knows about One Piece. When I stepped foot on that Going Merry ship… It was something else. I couldn’t wait to tell all my friends and brag about it. It was just awesome. It’s hopefully going to be a special experience for the fans too. We really brought One Piece to life and I just hope they’re going to like it, too."

Nami
Nami is a thief and also the main navigator of the Straw Hats Pirates' quest to find the "One Piece".
One Piece cast in real life - Emily Rudd
Nami is played by 30-year-old Emily Rudd, who is most well known for her role in the Fear Street movies on Netflix.
In an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strikes Emily spoke to Games Radar where she described her character of Nami as "the brains of the group" and that she wants people who weren't originally fans of anime and manga to fall in love with the show.
"I think my ultimate dream is that people who were maybe reluctant to watch the anime or read the manga take a chance on our show and fall in love with it in the same way that I and millions of other people have fallen in love with One Piece, because it is so special, and I hope that existing fans feel the love that was put into it because there was a lot," she explained.

Usopp
Usopp is another member of the Straw Hat Pirates who specialises in marksmanship.

Usopp is played by Jacob Romero Gibson who is most well known for his role of AJ Delajae in the series Greenleaf. 27-year-old Jacob has been acting since 2016.
When speaking to Games Radar in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Jacob described the series as carrying "so much heart."
He explained: "To me this show… I mean, it's an epic adventure story about finding your family and chasing your dreams. I think, on the level, that is something very important that we can all get behind, and One Piece carries so much heart. The show carries so much heart. Whether you're an anime fan or not, like it's got something for you, for sure."

Sanji
Sanji is one of the Straw Hat Pirates who is on a mission to find the "All Blue" which connects the four seas together.
One Piece cast in real life - Taz Skylar
Sanji is played by 27-year-old Taz Skylar who is most well known for his work in the theatre and his role in the film Boiling Point.
In order to get into character for Sanji, Taz prepped for four months, telling Netflix: "It would just be: wake up, either kick, then cook, or cook, then kick, then go do Hamlet at the Young Vic. On the matinee days, I would just cook for the cast of the play.”
