Last year, Antonio criticised the show after seeing paparazzi photos that showed Ricky holding Edgar's body during filming. "The picture of Ricky Martin holding the body in his arms is ridiculous," he told The Guardian. "Maybe it’s the director’s poetic license, but that is not how I reacted."

Andrew Cunanan, played by Darren Criss, was the man who murdered Versace. He killed at least four other people in addition to the designer, who was his final victim, and by the time he made it to Miami Beach, the FBI was already looking for him. Eight days after killing Versace, he committed suicide in a houseboat docked in a waterway not far from Versace's house.

Lee, a prominent Chicago businessman, was one of Andrew's other victims. After his body was found, the FBI added Andrewto its 10 Most Wanted List.

Jeffrey Trail, a former naval officer, was Andrew's first victim. Trail's family members denied that he was in a relationship with Andrew but said that Andrew had a strange obsession with Jeffrey. "When Jeff got a haircut, Andrew had to have the exact same haircut," Jeffrey's sister, Lisa, told The New York Times in 1997. "When Jeff went to San Francisco and got a certain style of baseball cap, Andrew had to go to San Francisco and get the very same cap. When Jeff grew a goatee, Andrew grew a goatee."

Andrew murdered David shortly after killing Jeffrey; the two met in 1995 and later began dating. At the time of his death, David was working at an architecture and design firm in Minneapolis.

George was a lead detective on the Versace case. When the FBI approached him to tell him that the Versace murder was likely connected to other homicides, he said he got "goosebumps."

Paul (in blue) was also a lead detective with the Miami Beach police department. He died in 2006 at age 60.

Santo is the older brother of Gianni and Donatella. As depicted on the show, he traveled to Miami Beach with Donatella after hearing the news of Gianni's murder. He was co-CEO of Versace until 2004.
