That's right - Katherine Langford auditioned for the part of both Hannah Baker and Jessica Davis. Of course, we know she got the role of Hannah in the end, and lovely Alisha Boe got the part of Jessica.

Justin Foley
Brandon Larracuente actually went in to read for the part of Justin Foley, the role that went to Brandon Flynn. But he ended up playing Jeff Atkins, who we all know deserved better. RIP.
Devin Druid (Tyler Down) nearly played...
Clay Jensen
Devin Druid had several auditions for the part of Clay Jensen before getting called back to read for Tyler Down: the part he eventually got. Clay's part was given to Dylan Minnette in the end.

Hannah Baker
Selena Gomez, who is the executive producer on 13 Reasons Why, was originally going to be the one to play main character Hannah Baker. At the time of Universal Pictures acquiring the rights to make the 13RW into a book (2011) Selena was busy starring in Wizards Of Waverly Place, so decided to opt out of starring in the show, and that stuck even when Netflix bought the rights. Hannah ended up being played by Katherine Langford.
