21. Braavos
Home of Syrio Forel, First Sword of Braavos and Arya's fencing teacher. The Free City is where Arya wound up after fleeing Westeros, and where she learned the ways of Jaqen H'ghar and the Faceless Men. Lots of canals, if you like that kind of thing, and a colossal Titan statue all its own.

42. Sunspear, Dorne
Site of no-one's favourite storyline, and the home of Prince Oberyn and the Sand Snakes. It's very hot there and more than a little Hispanic in flavour. Pretty but boring. NEXT!

63. The Eyrie
The Eyrie was lately mad Lysa Arryn's fortress, and now belongs to Littlefinger through his stepson Robyn Arryn. It's a castle in the Vale, a fertile region surrounded on all but one side by mountains, and is virtually impregnable. Colourful locals include Mord the gaoler.

84. Casterly Rock
It's not been shown in the series yet, but it's the home of the Lannisters, who are – or were, at least – literally sitting on a goldmine.

105. King's Landing
Notable landmarks include the Red Keep (the royal stronghold and home of the Iron Throne) and the Great Sept of Baelor – at least till Cersei blew it up. If you're thinking of visiting, don't miss the unique sights of Littlefinger's brothels, and the unique smells of Flea Bottom.

126. Dragonstone
The ancestral home of the Targaryens, it was held by Stannis Baratheon for most of the series so far. In the season 7 premiere, Daenerys reclaimed it – which is fair enough as she was born there.

147. The Iron Islands
Theon Greyjoy's dismal, salty home. The Greyjoy words are We Do Not Sow – so don't expect fertile farmlands on Great Wyk, Pyke and the rest, just loads of seagoing reavers, religious fanatics, sheep and probably some incest.

168. Meereen
This is where Daenerys was hanging out for aaaages, greatest of the three ancient cities on Slavers' Bay (the others are Yunkai and Astapor). It's got a big pyramid and used to have a big statue of a harpy. Now it's got lots of liberated slaves and crispy-fried former Masters.

189. Oldtown
A bit like a medieval Oxford or Cambridge, Oldtown is a university town, home to the Citadel, the enormous tower where all the country's Maesters are trained. Sam's there right now, doing a bit of book-learnin'.

2010. Qarth
Daenerys, Jorah and the remnants of Khal Drogo's khalasar wound up here, penniless and starving, after crossing The Red Waste on foot. Watch out for weird dudes with blue lips and magical powers – the Warlocks. Qarth isn't the furthest extreme of the known world (that would be Far Asshai By The Shadow) but it's as far East as anyone on the show has gone so far.
