Channel 4 has pulled the final episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off from airing tonight, replacing it with an alternative episode of the show.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer has been running annually on Channel 4 since 2018, with this year marking its ninth series.

The latest series of the beloved TV show kicked off on 22 March and saw the return of judge Paul Hollywood. However, with Prue Leith having stepped down shortly after the eighth season, the rolling pin was passed to renowned pastry chef Cherish Finden.

Hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding also made their return to the tent to help out with a fresh batch of stars including Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague, singer Jojo Siwa and comedian Joe Wilkinson.

Scott Mills - a former DJ for BBC Radio 2 - was also set to take to our screens as part of the show in an episode scheduled for airing this evening. Mills was set to appear on the show alongside Aston Merrygold, Rag’n’Bone Man, and Edith Bowman. But after Mills was fired by BBC last month following accusations surrounding his 'personal conduct,' Channel 4 decided to pull the final episode of the show featuring Mills from air.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: "Having carefully considered the circumstances, we've taken the decision not to air the final episode of the 2026 series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up to Cancer, featuring Scott Mills.

"Acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Scott, we don't believe it would be appropriate to air the episode at this time."

Channel 4's decision follows recent reports from The Mirror claiming the 53-year-old DJ was previously investigated by police regarding allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy under the age of 16. The alleged incidents were reported as having taken place over two decades ago, Mills in his mid-twenties at the time.

In a statement confirming the historic investigation, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "In December 2016, the Met began an investigation following a referral from another police force. The investigation related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. These were reported to have taken place between 1997 and 2000."

The BBC later released a statement and Mills also spoke out.

When the news first broke, a spokesperson for the BBC initially stated: "While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC."

The BBC reported on the historic allegations, but in its reporting wrote: "The BBC has not given any further details over the allegations and it is not clear what, if any, role the police investigation played in his sacking."

Mills also addressed his departure from the broadcaster alongside the 'rumour and speculation'.

In a statement, he said: "The recent announcement that I am no longer contracted to the BBC has led to the publication of rumour and speculation. An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.

"As the police have stated, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined that the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.

"Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed 7 years ago, I hope that the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment on this matter."

Mills added: "I wish to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have reached out to me with kindness, my former colleagues, and my beloved listeners, who I greatly miss."

Earlier this month, a BBC spokesperson added: "The BBC has made a significant commitment to improve its culture, processes and standards.

"Last year, following an independent culture review, we set out the behavioural expectations for everyone who works with or for the BBC and we were clear action would be taken if these were not met."

At the time of writing, the BBC has not released any further information about the circumstances surrounding Mills' exit.

Cosmopolitan UK has reached out to Mills' team for comment.
