The Teacher will be back on screens for season 3 tonight!
After the success of the first two seasons (featuring Sheridan Smith and Kara Tointon), The Teacher returns to Channel 5 – this time with Victoria Hamilton as the leading lady.
It’s an anthology series, which means each season is a completely new story, so you can tune in from 9pm to watch a brand-new plot unfold.
This time, "a sinister grudge match quickly develops between teacher and pupil”, and it looks like things get intense...

Victoria Hamilton as Helen Simpson
Who is Helen Simpson? Recently promoted to Head of Drama, Mrs Simpson is a respected teacher, but clashes with her students when she fails to keep up with their progressive ideas.
What else has Victoria Hamilton been in? Victoria Hamilton is best known for her roles as Anna Baker in Doctor Foster, and The Queen Mother in The Crown. She’s also starred in TV series COBRA, Life, and Unforgotten, amongst others.
Alice Grant plays Cressida Bancroft
Who is Cressida Bancroft? Cressida is the pupil who confronts Mrs Simpson about her outdated ideas and classroom expectations – leading to shocking and tragic results. "She hits all (Mrs Simpson’s) triggers," says star Victoria Hamilton.
What else has Alice Grant been in? This is Alice’s second ever TV role, having previously played Susan Villiers in Mary & George.
Steve Edge as Terry Simpson
Who is Terry Simpson? Terry is the husband of the lead character, Helen Simpson.
What else has Steve Edge been in? You may know Steve Edge from his roles in Starlings, Phoenix Nights, The Cup, The Visit, Peep Show, Benidorm, The Madame Blanc Mysteries, or the magazine show Star Stories.
Rochenda Sandall as Tessa Stewart
Who is Tessa Stewart? Mrs Stewart is the "very modern" teacher, who is understanding and non-judgemental towards her students – a contrast to the stern Helen Simpson.
What else has Rochenda Sandall been in? Rochenda Sandall is probably best known for playing Lisa McQueen in the television series Line of Duty. Her other TV credits include Small Axe, Doctor Who and Amandaland.
Peter Ash as Sebastian Blake
Who is Sebastian Blake? Mr Blake is another teacher at Cheetham Hall – he was Helen’s rival for Head of Drama, but missed out on the role. He "wants to support the students and radicalise the curriculum by stepping away from Shakespeare".
What else has Peter Ash been in? Peter’s stand-out role is probably as Paul Foreman in Coronation Street, but he’s also been in Casualty, Hollyoaks, and Footballers' Wives.
Olly Rhodes as Sam Simpson
Who is Sam Simpson? Sam Simpson is the teenage son of the leading teacher, Helen Simpson.
What else has Olly Rhodes been in? Sam Simpson is known for appearing in Waterloo Road, The Last Kingdom, All Creatures Great & Small and Hollyoaks.
Ellis Jupiter as Dee Rainford-Thomas
Who is Dee Rainford-Thomas? Dee is a non-binary student going through a difficult period. Their conflict with Mrs Simpson leads to a tragic incident that acts a catalyst for the rest of the drama.
What else has Ellis Jupiter been in? The Teacher marks Ellis Jupiter’s first televised role.
Shak Benjamin plays Leo Dalton
Who is Leo Dalton? Leo is Dee's best friend, who grows close to Helen's son Sam in the aftermath of the tragedy and scandal that occurs at school.
What else has Shak Benjamin been in? Shak has previously appeared in Sex Education.
