Finally, the fourth season of Beyond Paradise is hitting our screens: and we couldn't be happier.
The cosy crime drama, set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott, is actually a spin-off of the Guadeloupe-set Death in Paradise and sees DI Humphrey Goodman relocate to Shipton Abbott to be with his love interest Martha. There, he joins the local police force, and mystery and murder naturally ensue.
The show balances its mystery crime cases with more day-to-day concerns, and this season will see Humphrey and Martha adjust to married life, as well as potential cuts to the local police force. The fourth season also sees the show return with some amped-up drama.
The description reads as follows:
"Fact and folklore blur as they investigate the death of a novelist who predicted their demise, a magical night of Dark Morris that soon turns sour, a stolen treasure map that suddenly reappears, and the alleged sighting of a vengeful mermaid lurking out at sea.
DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha launch into married life as they search for a new home, whilst Humphrey wrestles with an impossible decision that may change the lives of everyone at the station forever."
Intriguing, right? Well, while the plot is remaining cryptic, we have some reliable confirmations on the cast and who we can expect to see return to our screens (as well as new additions).

Beyond Paradise season 4 returning cast
Some of the characters from previous seasons sadly don't seem to be returning. This includes Reverend Kate (Chizzy Akudolu), Humphrey and Martha's foster child Rosie (Bella Rei Blue Stevenson) and local councillor Arthur Donelan (Hugh Dennis).
However, much of the core cast has returned, further deets on which you can find below.
Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman
Who is DI Humphrey Goodman? The BBC describes Humphrey as: "Disorganised, distracted and incredibly accident prone, Humphrey often struggled to avoid putting his foot in it - but this didn’t stop him from being an absolutely brilliant detective."
In terms of season four, Humphrey will be adjusting to married life after having got hitched to Martha in the 2025 Christmas episode. He also is saddled with the responsibility of letting someone go from the police station.
"And also, he loves his team. He feels like losing one of them would be like losing an appendage, or a part of him, you know," said Kris Marshall to The Daily Express about the storyline. "He doesn't feel like he's the boss [of the police station]. He feels that they all bring a sort of an equal amount [to the dynamic]."
What else has Kris Marshall been in? Kris Marshall played Nick Harper in My Family, a UK sitcom that ran from 2000 to 2011. He also appeared in Love Actually in 2003, and played Humphrey Goodman from 2014 to 2017 in Death in Paradise.
Sally Bretton as Martha Goodman
Who is Martha Goodman? Martha Goodman, formerly Martha Lloyd, is a character who, similarly to Humphrey Goodman, first popped up in Death in Paradise. The starting premise of Beyond Paradise is that Humphrey has moved to Martha's childhood home of Shipton Abbott to be near her.
Martha isn't just a love interest, however, and has her own ambitions and struggles. In the first few series, she launches a cafe Ten Mile Kitchen, and then expands this into a restaurant in season three. She also experiences fertility difficulties, and embarks on a fostering journey with Humphrey. However, after the departure of their foster daughter Rosie, the couple take a break from fostering.
In this season, Martha and Humphrey will experiment with moving away from their houseboat and buying a brick-and-mortar home.
What else has Sally Bretton been in? Sally Bretton is best known as Lucy Adams in Not Going Out and also appeared as Martha Lloyd in season six of Death in Paradise, before reprising the role for the spin-off. She also has played Donna in the UK version of The Office and Kim in Green Wing.
Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams
Who is DS Esther Williams? Esther Williams is a Detective Sergeant in the local police force and is ambitious and determined. She has a daughter, Zoe, and previously was romantically involved with Archie Hughes.
What else has Zahra Ahmadi been in? Zahra Ahmadi is best known as the original Shabnam Masood from Eastenders, who she played between 2007 and 2008.
Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford
Who is PC Kelby Hartford? Kelby Hartford is a Police Constable who was raised in Shipton Abbott, which means he knows some of the crooks he nabs. He is naive and inexperienced, but hard-working.
What else has Dylan Llewellyn been in? Dylan Llewellyn is most recognisable for his roles as James Maguire in Derry Girls and Jack in Big Boys.
Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins
Who is Margo Martins? Margo Martins is the Office Supporter for Shipton Abbott police station, and is known for her direct and tough exterior and troubled personal life (three of her husbands have passed away).
What else has Felicity Montagu been in? Felicity Montagu is best known as playing Lynn Benfield in various Alan Partridge TV shows.
Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd
Who is Anne Lloyd? Anne Lloyd is Martha's mother. Her husband dies, leaving her widowed, which is why Martha returns to Shipton Abbott in season one.
What else has Barbara Flynn been in? Barbara Flynn appeared as The Doctor's adoptive mother in the thirteenth series of Doctor Who. She's also appeared in numerous British TV shows like A Family At War, Cracker, The Forsyte Saga, The Durrells and films like Miss Potter. She also briefly appeared in Killing Eve as pathologist Julia.
Jamie Bamber as Archie Hughes
Who is Archie Hughes? Archie Hughes is Martha's former love interest, to whom she was previously engaged, owns three local vineyards in the area, and supplies wine to Martha's cafe. He also becomes romantically involved with Esther.
What else has Jamie Bamber been in? Jamie Bamber's roles include Lee Adama in Battlestar Galactica and Detective Sergeant Matt Devlin in Law & Order: UK. He also played 2nd Lt. Jack Foley in Band of Brothers.
Phil Daniels as Marvellous Harris
Who is Marvellous Harris? Marvellous Harris is a local and a boatman who occasionally helps out Humphrey with favours he may need.
What else has Phil Daniels been in? Phil Daniels is a singer and actor, who tends to play Londoners. He featured on the Blur single 'Parklife' (he does the spoken word bit!) and also appeared in the accompanying video. He's played Kevin Wicks in Eastenders, voiced Fletcher in Chicken Run, played Phil in I Hate Suzie, appeared as Maester Gerardys in House of the Dragon, Ronnie Deveraux in Gangs of London...and many, many more.

As well as these returning faces, BBC also teased a host of new guest characters, all of whom have some pretty impressive acting credits. However (don't shoot the messenger) it hasn't actually been announced who all these actors are playing...
Michael Cochrane as Kenneth Linder
Who is Kenneth Linder? Kenneth Linder is a crime writer whose death is investigated in the first episode of season four. His death mirrors the murder in his last novel, which prompts some serious suspicion.
What else has Michael Cochrane been in? Michael Cochrane is best known for voicing the character Oliver Sterling on the radio show The Archers since 2007.
Colin McFarlane as Roger Franklin
Who is Roger Franklin? So far, no information seems to have been released about who Roger Franklin is. He does, however, appear in episode 2 of season 4 which deals with a mysterious burglary and a teen trapped in a garden shed. Given that the photo of Roger features him in front of a garden shed, we imagine he is linked to the latter plot line.
What else has Colin McFarlane been in? Colin McFarlane has appeared in a seriously impressive array of projects, including playing Gillian B. Loeb in two films of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy and also Ulysses in Outlander. He's also a prolific voiceover actor for kid's TV.
Susan George
Who does Susan George play in Beyond Paradise season 4? So far, there's no info on who Susan George plays in Beyond Paradise.
What else has Susan George been in? Susan George is known for her iconic film roles from the 1970s, including as Amy Sumner in Straw Dogs. She also played Margaret Walker in Eastenders in 2001.
Vincent Franklin as James Smith
Who does Vincent Franklin play in Beyond Paradise season 4? Vincent Franklin plays James Smith and, again, there's no details on who this is. He'll appear in episode three, which features what appears to be a premeditated allergic reaction at a Dark Morris Dancing event.
What else has Vincent Franklin been in? Vincent Franklin has appeared in the films of arty UK director Mike Leigh, including Topsy-Turvy, Vera Drake and Mr Turner, as well as the action film The Bourne Identity. He's also acted in the Russell T Davies' series Cucumber and Banana as Henry Best and appeared as Andy Shepherd in Happy Valley.
