Contains spoilers for last night's episode of The Traitors
Last night's episode of The Traitors was one for the history books, after Traitor Fiona appeared to reveal the identity of her fellow Traitor Rachel during an epic kitchen showdown, however, did she break a major rule of the Traitors' code? We've got the answers.
During last night's (8 January) episode, prior to the round table taking place Faithful Amanda confessed to Rachel she had been hiding a secret throughout the game - she was actually a retired police detective. Following the round table, in which Amanda was banished in a tense voting off, Rachel then revealed to the rest of the group Amanda's secret job. While the rest of the group were in shock at the news, they seemed to accept it and move on with the evening's drinks.
However, Fiona was seemingly furious at the revelation and told Harriet she didn't believe Rachel, and that she was making up the news of Amanda's job. Fiona then confronted Rachel about this, revealing she was questioning why Amanda told Rachel over herself when Fiona has a family connection to the police.
She then said she thought Rachel was "fibbing" about Amanda's job. This then escalated to the pair having a row in the kitchen and Fiona telling the majority of the group she thinks Rachel is a Traitor, which to many viewers seemed like a very sacred breaking of the rules the Traitors must uphold.
So did she break the sacred code of the Traitors? Well here's all the rules The Traitors must follow.
What is the Traitors' code? And did Fiona break it?
During the first episode of every series, whenever Claudia inducts the Traitors she offers them an oath that they must accept in order to become a Traitor.
The oath is as follows: "Do you commit to lie and deceive throughout this game? Are you willing to murder one of your fellow players every single night? And do you vow to keep your identity and the identity of your fellow Traitors a secret?"
So according to this oath, yes Fiona has broken the Traitors' code.
However, a spokesperson for The Traitors has said Fiona has not broken any rules of the show's gameplay, saying: “No rules have been broken. Within the game, the Traitors are allowed to accuse other Traitors under the guise of a Faithful. Thus, Fiona did not break any rules in episode 5 as she was acting as a Faithful."
Either way it was iconic TV and we cannot wait to see how it unfolds.
The Traitors continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
