After presenting Strictly Come Dancing for more than 20 years, host Tess Daly just accidentally revealed a major production spoiler ahead of the series finale on Saturday night.

Last night (17 December) Tess appeared on BBC's The One Show where she was speaking to hosts Clara Amfo and Alex Jones about the grand season finale.

During the conversation Clara mentioned Tess' cue cards she holds while announcing the winners' names, and how much viewers will miss seeing her on screen.

Tess then revealed the winners' names aren't actually on the cue cards and they use an ear piece to hear the results before delivering them to the audience.

"Often, the cards are blank, The winner's name isn't on it. We haven't had time to fill it in! We've got the result, and myself and Claud, we're cantering into position, in the heels, always running, on the floor, ready to reveal the winner," she explained.

She then added: "And often it's coming into my earpiece at the very last second and I'm very nervous in case it doesn't come! Everyone's got bated breath. And live, our lovely producer is telling me who the winner is.

"I've had 23 series over 21 years, 23 champions have been fed into that ear. Thankfully I've never got it wrong. It's a lot of pressure!"

Tess then reflected on what she said and lightly joked, "I shouldn't have said that, should I!"

Saturday night's live finale will be the final time we see Tess and co-host Claudia Winkleman present the show in October earlier this year the pair revealed they would be stepping down from hosting duties.

Tess has worked on the show since it began in 2004 presenting alongside the legendary Sir Bruce Forsyth. Claudia was the host of It Takes Two (Strictly's companion show) from 2005 and joined the main show to take over Bruce's role in 2014.

We'll be so sad not to see those two on our screens every Saturday night!

The Strictly Come Dancing live finale will take place on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Saturday at 7pm
