The latest season of MAFS UK is currently in full swing, and with the show airing five nights a week, we are seriously invested in the drama.

With all the couples 'married' and moved in together, we're watching in real time as they navigate their new (and slightly unconventional!) arrangement while working on their own relationship goals and testing whether the couple will work.

MAFS UK viewers have plenty to say about this latest season, sometimes homing in on minute details. This is the case with audiences who have commented on contestant Julia-Ruth's method of clapping with one hand.

These viewers have created enough conversation online that the professional dancer took to TikTok, to clarify that the clapping method is a form of acknowledgement and a habit that was picked up due to the proximity to Black, Latinx and LGBTQIA+ scenes she has gained via her career.

In a follow-up video to her initial TikTok, Julia-Ruth also shared an interesting tidbit: that there is a significant quantity of footage cut from the commitment ceremonies.

Here's what she said:

"There's so much in the edit, whether it be good or bad for everyone that is missing. Like there’s so many moments, at like the dinner parties, where everyone’s bonding, having a good time and laughing and kiki-ing," she explained.

She then went on to claim that filming the commitment ceremony took up to thirteen hours.

"There’s just lots that's not been seen so I think just really be kind to people who are having a tough time on screen right now," she said. "We're all human, it's quite an intense experience. The commitment ceremonies you're seeing are about five minutes per person on the couch [for the viewer] but we were there for hours, thirteen hour days."

Finishing things off, she encouraged viewers to practise kindness: “I just wanted to say send more love and positivity to everyone.”

Plenty of food for thought there! We also really can't help but wonder what's in this alleged cut footage she's talking about...
