Are MAFS UK's Anita and Paul still together?

Married At First Sight UK continued this week with the second commitment ceremony, as this year's cast having to decide whether they wanted to "stay" or "leave" the experiment.

For operations director Anita, 54, and Paul, 60, who is retired, it was a very tough decision, after weeks of struggling to get on the same page.

While Anita was looking for an instant connection with a "silver fox", Paul was more of a slow-burner. And after spending several nights in separate apartments and arriving at two dinner parties solo, Anita just wasn't sure.

So, what did she decide?

While they were both matched based on their shared love of adventure and a desire to live life to the fullest at their age, it wasn't quite love at first sight when they met on their wedding day.

Immediately after meeting Paul, her daughter-in-law, Jodie, questioned whether he could be serious, saying: "The only reservation is can he get serious. Is he a little bit too much of joker?"

Paul was very impressed with his bride when they met, but she wasn't sure, telling the cameras: "First impressions of Paul… he’s not the silver fox I had in mind. He’s not the type I’d gravitate to."

She warmed to him slightly after the vows, adding: "He seems very nice, he’s a bit of a joker, he’s not the silver fox I envisioned but I do want to get to know him. I just want to wait, see what happens and hopefully the attraction part will come later."

"I’m feeling very relieved. Anita is very attractive," Paul said.

During the dinner, Anita got speaking to Paul's daughter Emily and learn that he could be using the humour and jokes to cover up his true feelings.

"Emily is very nice, she’s very protective of you. She knows you best," Anita later said to Paul.

He then opened up about past relationships, admitting that they've made him quite guarded.

They then spoke about what they want from the relationship - mutual respect, to have each other’s backs, trust and honesty.

Anita was still struggling with attraction side of things but was keen to continue getting to know Paul, saying that it could work but they'd need to work hard.

The pair headed off on their honeymoon to Cape Verde and by this point it looked like Anita had had enough off Paul's OTT personality.

"He’s loud he’s brash but that could be a mark," she said. "There’s no spark there but he’s definitely a gentleman."

At dinner, Anita tried to establish a deeper connection with Paul by asking him questions, but the effort was not reciprocated.

And after learning that Paul had been single for 15 years, she didn’t feel like he was ready for marriage.

She decided to ask if he was ready for marriage and he couldn't give a straight forward answer, saying that he doesn't know the answers. She asked if he was looking for love and he said he couldn't go looking for something that he didn't know what it was. He then threw the question back to her.

"I find Paul very frustrating. I really don’t know what he wants," she said. "I don’t know if there’s hope for the marriage. Truthfully I don’t think there is."

Things didm't get any better when they returned from their honeymoon. Anita asked Paul if he knew her children's names and he didn't have a clue, despite her telling him. She decided to move into another apartment and they attended the first dinner party separately. At the first commitment ceremony, Anita chose to leave, but as Paul wrote "stay" they remained in the experiment.

Paul attempted to put things right by buying Anita flowers after this. But, Anita was still struggling to find that deeper connection and felt that Paul wasn't asking her any questions. He said that while she likes to be asked, he's the type of person to offer up information.

They're not.

The couple decided to end things at the second commitment ceremony. While they got on, there wasn't anything romantic there. They came to the realisation that Anita is looking for love and Paul is looking to find himself, so the pace just wasn't going to work for them.

Anita was initially following Paul on Instagram, but seems to have unfollowed since they left the show. Paul is still following Anita.
