MAFS UK's Dean has responded to criticism of his rap during his wedding ceremony to Sarah, following the savage reaction from fans online to the moment.
During last night's episode of MAFS UK, Dean and Sarah, both 31, were the first couple of this year's series to head down the aisle and get married to a stranger.
Ahead of the ceremony, Dean, a team building host, told his friends of his plans to rap during the vow ceremony. While they advised him against it, Dean continued with his plans.
After Sarah walked down the aisle and the pair were introduced, Dean then launched into his rap, which included lines such as "I know we'll have hard times it's true, but I'll never give up on you."
Sarah and her guests were less than impressed with the rap and she later told producers how it had put her off her new husband.
Speaking to camera, Sarah said: "I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, the rap is not something I envisaged. I have to say I was not expecting that."
Dean later continued to showcase his musical skills by singing a song during the wedding breakfast, which again Sarah did not seem impressed by.
Following his two performances fans of the show took to X to share their thoughts, with one person saying: "Dean you are a sweetheart but that rap was a no from me," while another posted: "No I’m sorry, Dean is really sweet but that rap was too much I would have died," and another added: "This guy is a bit cringe though he may well be a really nice guy. But the whole rap and singing bit much id feel awkward sat there.. #MAFSUK."
And now Dean has responded to criticism of his rap. On his Instagram Story last night (21 September) Dean shared a video of himself talking to camera about the first episode and thanked everyone for their support.
He then addressed everyone's reaction to the rap and singing, saying: "I know that the rap and the singing was a bit cringy but I'm just a cringy guy you know. I'm just being myself."
We love to see the self-love! As for whether we'll see more of Dean's musical performances this season, we'll just have to watch and see.
MAFS UK continues on E4
