Gen V is finally returning to Prime Video for its second season, with The Boys spin-off seeing a new dean take over Godolkin University, who believes in the Supes superiority over Humans. However, while there is a lot of excitement around the return of the show, there's also an underlying feeling of sadness, following star Chance Perdomo passing away last year.
The actor, who was 27 years old, died following a motorcycle accident in New York in March 2024. As well as his role in Gen V, the British-American actor was also known for his roles in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the After movie series.
Andre was a main character in season one of Gen V, and had the power to control magnetism. Prime Video made the decision not to recast Andre in the upcoming second season.
In May last year, the following statement was posted on the X account for the show:
"As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May.
"We will honour Chance and his legacy this season."
As the new episodes for the second season are yet to air, we don't know exactly what this will look like, however Gen V showrunner Michele Fazekas, revealed honouring Chance was the number one priority for the new season.
"Just watching the show and watching even just the trailer for it...we did it so long ago and I remember being in the writer's room and talking about how important it was to honour him," she said while speaking to EW. "And then when you watch the show, he exists throughout the entire season. It was, in many ways, about Andre and about Chance. And, yeah, I'm very proud of that actually."
Gen V season 2 will be available on Prime Video from 17 September
