The Assassin, a brand new thriller series, has just dropped on Amazon Prime Video. Fast-paced and nail-bitingly tense, it follows Edward (played by Freddie Highmore), a quiet young man who travels to a remote Greek island to reconnect with his estranged mum, Julie (Keeley Hawes).

Little does Edward know, his mother is actually a retired assassin, and danger is never far away. As Edward tries to squeeze the truth from Julie — including finding out who his father is and learning about his mother's past — he simultaneously discovers her true profession the hard way. Because rather than hunting other people, Julie is now being hunted.

Forced to go on the run, the mother and son duo flee the island in search of safety. Along the way, they learn more about each other than ever before.

So, as thriller fans binge the available six episodes, let's take a look into Freddie Highmore's career and life, and where we've seen him before.
