Some of the biggest names in Hollywood arrived at the Met Gala in New York on Monday 5th May.
From the likes of Tyla, to Doechii, Chappell Roan and Rihanna (who announced her third pregnancy), this year's turn out was spectacular, with the celebs donning their best looks for the 2025 theme - Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, an homage to Black dandyism, inspired by the influential professor (and Met Costume Institute guest curator) Monica L Miller's 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
However, there were some famous faces missing from the iconic staircase - one of those being Blake Lively.
The actress has attended the annual event since 2008, making many fashion statements over the years. However, this year, she and her husband Ryan Reynolds weren't in attendance.
Here's why.
Why wasn't Blake Lively at The Met Gala 2025?
Lively, whose film Another Simple Favor premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 1st May, skipped the event along with Reynolds for the third year in a row, amid her ongoing legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.
A source told US Weekly prior to the event: "She’s not a Kardashian that goes every year."
Meanwhile, another source explained to TMZ that this decision was made way before Lively's publicised battled with Baldoni.
Lively last graced the famed Met Gala steps in 2022 for the 'Gilded Glamour' theme. She wore a humongous, 2-in-1 Versace number that when its train was revealed, unveiled a tribute to the Statue of Liberty and the green patina that has developed over its once-copper exterior.
Her and Reynolds were both co-chairs that year, alongside Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The couple made their Met debut together in in 2014. They returned for the event three years later, while Lively attended solo in 2018.
Lively wasn't the only celeb absent from this year's gala, with Snow White actress Rachel Zegler and Gisele Bündchen among those not in attendance.
