One of our favourite shows is back in just under two weeks and our Wednesday evenings are back to being great again!

Race Across the World returns for season 5, and this time round, the contestants will set off at The Great Wall of China for the epic race, which will take a total of 14,000km to reach the finish line, Kanniyakumari, India.

BBC announced the news on Wednesday 9th April, and fans (we) cannot wait for the race to begin.

"Brilliant, one of the best things on TV," one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Love this show so much!" another said.

Stakes are looking particularly high this year, with a previously married couple taking part in the competition together. We wonder if they'll make it to the final...

Race Across the World season 5 start date

Season 5 starts on Wednesday 23rd April at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Episodes will then air weekly at the same time or be available to stream.

This year, the race starts at The Great Wall of China.

The five teams will then navigate three of Asia’s most diverse nations, China, Nepal and India, in a race of over 14,000km to reach the finish line, Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India.

There are five teams taking part this year.
