Here in the UK we've only seen four episodes of Married At First Sight Australia season 12, but the drama is already spicier than the climate Down Under. ICYMI (how!?) two sets of newlyweds have been paired with their exes, one bride dated a former groom and another couple don't even make it through week one – if this is just the start, we can't wait to see how the next nine weeks play out. And, speaking of the ill-fated couple whose relationship breaks down before they make it to the first Commitment Ceremony, the best man who appeared at their wedding has suggested an unaired argument is the real cause of their split.

Of course, we're talking about Lauren Hall and Eliot Donovan. While the pair initially seem to hit it off at the altar – the experts literally said it was "fate" that they both applied for the same series – things quickly turn sour and the pair can't seem to get back on track. This ends with Eliot calling time on their relationship (if you can even call a few hours of being married a relationship), with Lauren saying she feels robbed of the experience because of it.

We've already done a deep dive on everything that happens between Lauren and Eliot (and the specifics of their romance break down), but now the groom's best man has spoken out about what he believes to be the cause of their split, explaining that none of this was aired on the show.

Speaking on the podcast So Dramatic! with Megan Pustetto, best man Jordy claims the pair had "so many arguments" in the first 48 hours of their marriage.

"Like, if you meet somebody within the first 10 hours and you have an argument, let alone the first 48 hours and you have multiple arguments about multiple things that you disagree on, then that's not healthy for anyone," he says. "Why would you stay around?"

Jordy goes on to allege that Lauren and Eliot had a "huge argument" on the second or third night of the experiment. The argument in question wasn't aired, but he claims they "both kind of agreed that it wasn’t going to work," so Eliot leaving shouldn't have been as big of a "shock" as Lauren makes out.

According to Jordy, despite their differences Lauren asked Eliot to give it another "crack" but he was insistent on leaving. Per the best man, Eliot told his new bride: "I'm not going to waste your time. I'm not going to waste my time. I don't want to be on TV for someone to just have arguments for the next three months."

Yikes!
