Another day, another MAFS Australia episode to get our reality-tv-teeth stuck into. So far we've seen a handful of couples walk down the aisle, and discovered that one of this year's contestants has dated a former groom, while another bride has been matched up with her ex. Blimey! If the series has been this dramatic so far, we honestly can't wait for the next nine weeks.
While we've still got a long way to go before final vows, we're already getting a bit ahead of ourselves and wondering which couples from MAFS Australia season 12 are still together. And the couple under today's microscope? Sierah Swepstone and Billy Belcher.
What has happened for Sierah and Billy on MAFS Australia so far?
In tonight's episode (5 March), we'll see former The Bachelor contestant Sierah and British-born Billy meet and marry at the altar. The pair instantly hit things off – there's undeniable chemistry and a shared sense of humour – but Billy is initially apprehensive about Sierah's former forays into reality TV dating.
Despite that, the pair's romance continues to progress until things start to fall apart during Intimacy Week, which brings us on to the question...
Are Sierah and Billy from MAFS Australia still together?
The current season of MAFS Australia has only just started airing here in the UK, but we know from what's already unfolded Down Under that Sierah and Billy struggle to connect on a deeper romantic level – he expresses a need for emotional connection, and she expects better progress in the bedroom. Again, here's your warning that spoilers are ahead.
From what's already been shown over in Australia, the answer to the above question is: no, they aren't. The pair's misalignment when it comes to an intimate connection is further enhanced when a 'cheating' scandal comes to light. Sierah is accused of building more than a friendship with another groom, Adrian Araouzo (who is married to Awhina Rutene), and it all comes down to a matter of footsie. For the uninitiated: that's a flirting game in which two people touch feet under a table, often as a romantic prelude.
"We [Awhina and Billy] signed up to be with our partners and when we watched them getting closer, it wasn't nice," Billy later told TV Week of his wife's connection with Adrian. "It was very difficult to watch. I felt a bit sad."
Ultimately, Sierah and Billy don't work through their differences – or footsie-gate – and although they make it through a few weeks, they leave the experiment during one of the show's Commitment Ceremonies.
