The Oscars is no stranger to a shocking moment (read: the announcement of La La Land as Best Picture), but one thing we didn't have on our bingo card for the 2025 Academy Awards? Adrien Brody and Halle Berry sharing a kiss.
Ahead of the 97th Academy Awards ceremony kicking off last night, the celebrities appeared on the red carpet and at one point Halle Berry was spotted grabbing Adrien Brody and pulling him in for a kiss.
In the video Adrien is seen talking to reporters, when Halle approaches him and says to Georgina Chapman, Adrien's partner, "I'm sorry Georgina but I've got to do it," before pulling Brody in for a snog. The pair then hug it out before Halle gives Georgina a hug too.

So what's with the random kiss? Well it's not actually so random. Back in 2003 when Adrien won his first Oscar for his role in The Pianist, Halle presented him with the award and Adrien then grabbed a shocked Halle and pulled her in for a kiss before remarking: "Bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag."
And now 22 years later Halle was determined to get her own back. Speaking to Variety about the surprise red carpet kiss, Halle said she had to "pay him back" and tonight was the first time they'd been on a red carpet together since that kiss.
She said: "That was one hell of a night for him, and for me as well. To be a part of his moment… tonight I had to pay him back. I’ve seen him out at parties, but this is the first time since that night that I’ve seen him on the red carpet somewhere. He’s nominated this year. He deserved that.”
Later on in last night's ceremony Adrien went onto win his second Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist, and was presented the award by last year's winner Cillian Murphy, who Adrien didn't kiss as part of his five minute long acceptance speech.
