Despite rumours Alfie was making a French exit, the actor is officially back for season four of Emily In Paris. To celebrate, he gave us the lowdown on everything from lucky charms to romantic weekends away.

What’s your go-to comfort food?

I’m back up north at the minute, and I’ve just been to the pub down the road for a cheese-and-onion pie – it was really good.

What app do you spend the most time on?

The Notes app. I journal in my Notes and also use it for lists upon lists of things I need to get done. And I’ve started writing some screenplays... I find it much easier to just get stuff down in my Notes rather than in anything fancy.

Do you have a lucky charm?

I’ve had lucky charms at certain times, but when they get lost, I’m happy to let them go. I’m not a massive believer in luck. I think we have opportunities that come our way, and it’s what we do with those opportunities that really matters.

Is London or Paris better for a romantic weekend away?

Paris, no question. The ideal weekend would betaking the train to Gare du Nord, leaving your things in the hotel and then hitting the streets. There’s a cafe called Café Charlot in Le Marais, which is beautiful. Take a walk down to the [River] Seine to watch the sunset, and the Eiffel Tower’s lights coming on. If you haven’t fallen in love by then, they’re just not meant for you.

When do you feel most at home?

I live in Antigua now, so it’s definitely the smell – it’s sort of like a heat meets greenery, and also the smell of the sea. That feeling of the heat on your skin.

Is there an Emily In Paris group chat?

If there is one, I’m not in it! No, I think there is one, but no one’s really on it that much. If we’re going to hang out one night, we all jump in and make a plan. And then no one will hear from anyone for a while. And then we’ll jump in again and say, ‘Where are we all going for dinner?’

What album do you have on repeat right now?

I’m on a funky house trail right now, and also good, soulful house music. But the last album I had on was Garage Classics – you know that song that goes*sings* ‘I’ll bring you flowers, in the pouring rain’?

"My friends would probably say different, but I’d like to think I’m the most like Alfie"

If you could be in any other Netflix show, what would it be?

Wow, okay. The Gentlemen would’ve been cool, to have worked with [director] Guy Ritchie, and I think Theo [James] and Kaya [Scodelario] are great. And Ozark, I loved that, and also Narcos.

Which of your characters do you think you’re most like?

My friends would probably say different, but I’d like to think I’m the most like Alfie [from Emily in Paris]. But I’m probably a little bit more goofy in real life.
