Cameron Diaz has finally responded to internet speculation that an 'on-set meltdown' from Jamie Foxx is what caused her to 'quit acting'.
Back in March 2023, a Daily Mail report claimed that despite Cameron initially stepping away from Hollywood in 2018, she was back on set to work with close friend Jamie on action comedy Back In Action.
They alleged things had taken a turn, though, when Jamie "had an absolute meltdown", and that it had only confirmed her earlier desires to leave the industry. Their source summarised, "[Cameron] hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place. She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone."
Now, the 51-year-old has spoken out about the rumours for the first time, insisting she struggles to see the tabloid speculation about that period of filming. Speaking on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, Cameron said, "I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time. You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?'"
Responding to allegations that Jamie was "making everything miserable" on set, Cameron continued, "Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much. He’s such a special person and he’s so talented, so much fun."
She added that while there were "hiccups" on set, those are just "natural things that happen", and that "when I see and hear people trying to take another person down like that … [Jamie is] so classy. He’s like, ‘Nope. Just let them [talk].'"
So there you go.
