The final ever episodes of The Crown are now available to stream on Netflix, after season six part two was released on the platform. But who is Shay Leonard, who the second episode pays tribute to?

After a short gap following part one, The Crown season six part two is finally here, as viewers watch a teenage Prince Harry and Prince William come to terms with their mother Diana's death, and how the country coped with the loss.

The second episode is titled 'Ruritania', and focusses on Queen Elizabeth II's response to the tragedy. The episode description reads, "Eager to improve the monarchy's public image, the queen seeks out savvy statesman Tony Blair - but the Prime Minister's advice defies royal protocol."

At the end of an episode, a tribute card flashes up at the end which reads, "In memoriam, Shay Leonard, 1970 – 2023."

So who was Shay Leonard, who an episode of The Crown is dedicated to?

Shay was an art director, TV and film producer, who had worked on everything from Sherlock Holmes to Vampire Academy and Hot Fuzz, as well as in the props department for Netflix shows like Anatomy of A Scandal, and of course, The Crown.

The Dublin native was born in 1970 and worked on the show between 2017 to 2020. He passed away earlier this year in June, aged 54. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
