This is not a drill, people! A sequel to Freaky Friday is *officially* coming, more than 20 years – yep, really – since the first movie was released. That’s right, the beloved teen movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis is back for a second instalment, and we cannot wait.

So, while we countdown to the moment this must-see movie arrives on our screens, here is everything you need to know about the Freaky Friday sequel.

Is there a trailer for Freakier Friday?

There sure is! On 14 March, Disney shared the first full length trailer for the movie, and it features Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their roles as Anna and Tess. It also introduces us to Anna's daughter and soon to be step-daughter and the four of them have a four way body swap!

When will the Freaky Friday sequel be released?

Drum roll, please... Disney has announced the Freaky Friday sequel will be released on 8 August 2025.

In a collab post with the film's original stars – in which Lindsay and Jamie recreate one of the movie's most iconic scenes – Disney finally revealed to fans when they can expect the pair to reprise their roles.

"TGIF. 😱 😱," read the caption, which continued: "#FreakierFriday arrives in theaters August 8, 2025!"

Who will star in the Freaky Friday sequel?

Lindsay and Jamie will return to their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman – a mother and daughter who wake up one Friday in the other's body.

Also very excitingly Disney has also confirmed Chad Michael Murray will be reprising his role as Jake and Mark Harmon will be returning as Ryan, as are Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Lucille Soong as Pei-Pei's mum, Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr. Bates, and Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei.

New to the cast for the sequel are Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.

What have the cast said about the Freaky Friday sequel?

In an interview with The New York Times about the original movie, Jamie said she is constantly asked about a sequel. “Something really touched a chord,” she said. “When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”

Lindsay added: “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”

The original Freaky Friday came out all the way back in 2003, making it two decades old. And this time around rather than just one body swap, four of the cast will be swapping bodies. Ok this is going to be a lot to keep up with.
