Ashley Graham has responded to her fairly awkward interview with Hugh Grant on the 2023 Oscars red carpet, after he was branded "rude" for his response to her questions.
Sunday night [12 March] saw the Academy Awards go down in Hollywood, where the best in movies and film from the last year where celebrated. While there were excellent red carpet dresses and big wins for Everything Everywhere All At Once, one less than celebratory moment came from Ashley Graham and Hugh Grant.
The model was presenting during ABC’s Oscars pre-show, and stopped Hugh on the red carpet to ask him a couple of questions about the evening ahead. It's safe to say his response was preeetty awkward, and people have since been taking to Twitter to call him out as a bit rude.
The conversation went a little like this:
Ashley Graham: Who are you most excited to see tonight?
Hugh Grant: To see?
Ashley: To see win
Hugh: No one in particular
Ashely: Okay. Who are you wearing?
Hugh: My suit
Okaaaaay then. The day after the Oscars [13th March], TMZ spoke to Ashley at LAX airport about the awkward interview, to which she responded, "You know what, my mama told me to kill people with kindness."
People on Twitter also rallied around Ashley, showing their support for her interviews. "And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to Ashley Graham telling Hugh Grant 'it was nice to talk to you'," one person wrote, while another put, "I don’t understand this from Hugh Grant. If you don’t want to be interviewed, don’t take the mic, smile politely and keep walking. Kudos to @ashleygraham for trying repeatedly to get something interesting out of him. #Oscars."
Someone else said, "Hugh Grant rolls his eyes after his awkward interview with Ashley Graham. She tried!" and "Wow @ashleygraham just earned her paycheck on that interview with Hugh Grant. She was gracious and persistent through his obvious desire to not be there. Why agree to an interview if you have no interest in participating?? #Oscars"
Others were more supportive of Hugh, though. "‘I’m wearing …my suit.’ Hugh Grant - having absolutely none of it and I love him," someone put.
Maybe he was just having a bad day..? All the support to Ashley for getting through it.
