Lady Gaga's relationship with Michael Polansky took us all by surprise - including her, apparently - with sources saying the singer "wasn’t expecting to get so involved so quickly after her last relationship".
But we all know love works in mysterious ways, and just fours months after they were first linked, Gaga called Michael the "love of my life". Here's everything we know about their relationship history, starting with the most recent update:
January 2025: Lady Gaga opens up about how she found happiness with fiancé Michael Polansky in a new profile with ELLE UK. "He used to say to me when we first met, 'You are a special human being when the cameras aren’t on you. And I get to see that all the time'", the 38-year-old singer said, before opening up about worrying that "people will say I’m boring these days.
"But honestly, thank God I’m boring. Thank God! Because I was living on the edge. I don’t know what was going to happen to me living that way. So, the fact that I have these answers, on the one hand, I’m like, 'Oh man, snooze fest!' But actually, I’m so grateful. Because I found a sense of happiness and joy that is true to me."

December 2019: According to reports, Gaga and Michael meet at Facebook co-founder Sean Parker's birthday party at his home in Los Angeles. "People are saying Gaga would have met him through events Sean Parker has hosted at his house, including the launch and other events for the foundation," an insider told Page Six. "Sean also had a party for his birthday in LA in December and both Gaga and Michael were there."
Meanwhile, a separate source told E! News they'd been "seeing other since before the holidays and she's crazy about him".
31st December, 2019: The pair are spotted kissing after she performed a special concert performance at the Park Theatre inside the Park MGM hotel in Las Vegas.
1st February, 2020: The singer is pictured arm-in-arm with Michael at the pre-Super Bowl party where Gaga had earlier performed while he looked on.
3rd February, 2020: Gaga and Michael make their Instagram debut. "We had so much fun in Miami. Love to all my little monsters and fans, you’re the best! ❤️," she captioned a snap of them cuddling up on a boat.
3rd February, 2020: Two days and some deep diving later, Page Six reveals the identity of Gaga's mystery man. ICYMI, Michael is a Harvard grad who works as an Executive Director of the Parker Foundation, which is a research institute to develop new immune therapies to fight cancer. A source told the publication: "Michael is a really smart guy, a very serious guy, who has always been low key."
14th February, 2020: The singer shares a sweet Valentine's Day emoji-filled tribute, writing: "Happy Valentine’s Day!! 'Babe, do I have lipstick all-over me?' 😂#valentines ❤️💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💕🧚♀️happy v-day to all my monsters!!! I love you!!! ❤️😘."
18th February, 2020: Gaga posts a cute sunset selfie.
6th March, 2020: The Shallow singer shares a picture of them together on a plane and writes: "I’ve got a STUPID love💕," in reference to her single.
18th March, 2020: A source tells Entertainment Tonight that's she "completely in love".
“She wasn’t expecting to get so involved so quickly after her last relationship, but she started telling her friends she was completely in love with him. Anyone that has spent any time with them can see the connection. They are completely smitten. Her friends haven’t seen her this happy in years. It didn’t take long for her friends to adore him too.”
18th April, 2020: Gaga calls Michael "the love of my life" during an interview on Morning Joe to promote her One World: Together at Home concert. "With Born This Way Foundation, my mother, Cynthia Germanotta, and our co-founder Maya, who I love so very much - they are working with my, the love of my life on something for mental health," she said.
26th January, 2021: Gaga shared a picture of her and Michael kissing (through their masks) taken at Joe Biden's inauguration. Earlier in the week, the singer dazzled audiences and people at home as she belted out the national anthem.
28th March, 2021: Happy birthday Lady Gaga! Michael sent Gaga the biggest bunch of flowers to the singer to mark her 35th birthday. Gaga, who is currently filming House of Gucci in Italy with Adam Driver, shared a picture of herself attempting to wrap her arms around the huge wicker basket filled with beautiful blooms.
"When your bf sends you all the flowers in Rome for your birthday," she wrote alongside the pic. "I love you honey. I can't wait to be home with you and our dogs, that's all I need."
Gaga and Driver have been filming House of Gucci, which tells the story of how Patrizia Reggiani was convicted for organising the assassination of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci, since February and the movie is due for release in cinemas on 24th November 2021. We can't wait!
April, 2022: Lady Gaga performed at the 2022 Grammys, and the camera panned to Keith Urban and Michael watching on adoringly. Wow this is cute.
March, 2023: A source claims Lady Gaga and Michael have broken up over their views of the future, telling Radar Online. “They broke up a few months ago. It was amicable. They’re still friends."
October, 2023: No break up here! The couple are spotted hand in hand in New York at a Saturday Night Live after-party at L’Avenue, after the musician made a brief cameo on that night’s episode.
February, 2024: The couple is seen attending the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers:
July, 2024: 38-year-old Lady Gaga reveals she's engaged to boyfriend Michael Polansky, 46, after introducing him as her fiancé during the Paris Olympics.
The singer, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, performed at the opening ceremony on 26th July, singing 'Mon Truc en Plumes' in tribute to French ballet dancer, actor and singer, Zizi Jeanmaire. In a TikTok shared from the event, Gaga is seen introducing Michael to someone, and saying, "This is my fiancé.”
September, 2024: The couple are photographed looking very loved up at the 81st Annual Venice Film Festival, ahead of the premiere of her highly anticipated film Joker: Folie à Deux on 5th September.
