Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner were first romantically linked when they were photographed getting cosy on a yacht in St Barts in January 2016. On the same trip, they were papped having lunch with Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi.
So when Ellen decided to probe Harry on his recent friendship with Kendall, it understandably made him feel a little awkward.
In case you need a recap, the ex-One Direction singer is currently on a press tour for his second solo album, Fine Line. And as well as guest hosting The Late Late Show (more about that later), he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
During the appearance, Ellen tried to get some details about the parameters of their relationship. "You and Kendall are really good friends now, right?" Ellen asked Harry.
Harry replied, "Yeah, we’ve been friends for a while now, yeah, for, like, several years.
"It’s sweet that you all are still really good friends," Ellen added, clearly looking for some tea to sip.
"Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Right? Okay!" Harry awkwardly stammered, before taking an actual sip of tea, which is just classic Harry really. Whether Ellen was hinting at the holiday she spent with the pair, or just genuinely trying to get an update is up for debate. But either way, Harry didn't like it!
Speaking about whether his album was about a breakup, Harry continued, "I think I definitely write from a personal experience. I think a lot of people do. I think if you want your songs to be honest and connect with people, it’s usually from writing honestly.
"So, yeah, it’s definitely about, I guess, what I was going through at the time. And that’s both good and bad. I think the thing with this album for me is while I was making it, the times when I was kind of sad were probably, like, some of the saddest times in my life, but then at the same time, the times when I was happy were some of the best times I’ve ever had in my life. It’s both, it’s a fine line."
The chat comes as Harry and Kendall played a game of Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts, in which Harry ate cod's sperm instead of telling Kendall which of his songs were about her. Hilarious.
