• Justin Bieber just shared an Instagram that compares Chris Brown to Michael Jackson and Tupac, and also said that people are overlooking Chris because of a "mistake."
  • As a reminder, Chris pled guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna a couple of years ago, and was questioned on suspicion of rape by French police in January.

I'm sorry to start your morning with some uncomfy news, but Justin Bieber posted a controversial Instagram on Friday night and we need to discuss.

The Insta in question is all about Chris Brown, who has been facing some pushback in the music industry. For context, Chris pled guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna back in 2009, and in January was released by French police after being questioned on suspicion of rape. The investigation is ongoing.

Just last week the band Chvrches called out DJ Marshmello for working with Chris, saying, "We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses, and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind."

It might be that this pushback is what prompted JB to defend Chris on a random Friday night, because Justin shared an Instagram that compared Chris to Michael Jackson and Tupac, writing an impassioned caption about his friend that said:

"Everyone wants to wait til people die To give them the credit they deserve. I'm calling it now when CB passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time ... trust me watch you will see. the people who have over looked this mans talent because of a mistake he made.. you need to reevaluate! Love you @chrisbrownofficial"

Justin didn't specify if Chris' "mistake" was about his assaulting Rihanna or his ongoing rape case, but what we do know is that Michael Jackson has famously been accused of child molestation many times, and Tupac served time for sexual abuse—though pretty sure Justin wasn't trying to draw those comparisons.

JB's fans were not happy with him for supporting Chris and made their feelings known in the comments section. Followers said things like: "this is super insensitive and disrespectful to the victims of abuse," "A mistake???? Are you f*cking kidding me? Wow lost so much respect for JB," "You need to revaluate yourself if you think that what CB did was a mistake and not a crime...," "domestic abuse ain't a mistake, especially when its done repeatedly. Im sick to my stomach, definitely unfollowing you, mad disappointed," and "Are you delusional? CB has a history of and continues to abuse, threaten and assault people but he gets a pass cause he can sing and dance?"

Justin has yet to reply to any of them, but hopefully he can tell that he definitely read the room wrong on this one—yikes!
