• Taylor Swift's new video for "ME!" is packed full of hidden messages and we're breaking them down.
  • FYI, Taylor is likely releasing an album this year and fans think the date is hidden in this video....

Taylor Swift just released the video for her new song "ME" and it's best described as an intense explosion of colour, cats, rainbows, and positivity. Like, JoJo Siwa is SHAKING.

But it wouldn't be a Taylor Swift video if it wasn't full of clues and hidden messages for everyone to find and analyse, and fans have already come through. Like, the detective work here is truly impressive considering the video hasn't even been out for 24 hours.

Taylor herself confirmed that she purposefully stacked the "ME!" video with clues for fans to find, saying on YouTube live chat, "Okay regarding Easter Eggs. There are a lot of them in this video. Some you’ll find out right away and some will take a minute to reveal their meaning (omg why am I talking like a sorcerer)."

'Kay we'll get right to it, but first here's the "ME!" video for reference:

Remember when we were informed that the Old Taylor was dead and couldn't come to the phone? Well, Tay made a point of referencing that iconic moment in her new video with a bright pink phone thats the exact same style as the one in the "Reputation" video:

And speaking of the "Reputation" video, "ME!" starts with an almost identical image of her iconic snake (now pink) exploding into butterflies:

She also referenced the stairs in "Reputation," only this time the snakes are fluffy clouds:

Meanwhile, fans noticed that the word "lover" appears on a building behind Taylor, and everyone thinks it's the name of her next single:

They also think she has a brand new cat in her life thanks to this moment, and based on the fact that she teased the video having a "secret" she's been keeping from fans:

Taylor also shouted out a bunch of old outfits from her pre-Reputation phase, to which I say: HER MIND.

Plus, she made it pretty clear that a Dixie Chicks collaboration will be on the album:

Meanwhile as Just Jared notes, the clock in the video is set to 8:30, causing speculation that this could be her album release date:

Green, Black, Photograph, Darkness, Snapshot, Photography, Art, Room, Still life photography, Organism,
YouTube

My personal favourite easter egg, though? When she references the "Welcome to New York" lyrics "kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats:"

SO GOOD.
