In today's Internet Catnip Collab, movie soundtrack artist extraordinaire Céline Dion has released a new ballad... for the upcoming movie Deadpool 2. It's called 'Ashes' and it's classic Céline. And classic Deadpool too, tbh.
The music video for the song dropped on Thursday and it's truly wondrous. In it, Deadpool — a.k.a. Ryan Reynolds — dances around (he pirouettes in stilettos!) while Céline is, of course, perfect. Truly, it's a treasure.
After the song ends, Deadpool pops back up from the seats in the audience (oh!) and asks Céline to do another take. "Why?" she rightfully asks back. "This is Deadpool 2, not Titanic," the superhero explains. "You’re at like an 11. We need to get you down to a five — five and a half tops. Just phone it in."
And then Queen Céline hits back with the clapback: “Listen, this thing only goes to 11. So beat it, Spider-Man.”
You can watch the magical diva fight go down in the video above, but actually Céline was super excited to do the song!
"Over the years I've received incredible songs and I've been involved in fun projects. 'Ashes' is one of those songs and @deadpoolmovie is off-the-charts!" the singer wrote on Twitter. "Take the most insane ride of your life when it opens on 5/18! You'll be laughing your "ashes" off!—Céline xx."
Deadpool 2 hits theaters on 18th May, with the soundtrack also dropping that same day. And if you were curious, the tagline for the film is "The Second Coming" so you can listen to 'Ashes' while thinking about that...
