Liam Payne has finally revealed the real reason he and Cheryl chose to call their newborn son Bear.
On Wednesday night's episode (6th September) of The Late Late Show, host James Corden asked the One Direction star about his baby boy – specifically why he's named Bear and not "the best name in the world: James".
"Can you tell everyone what you called your son and explain why you why it wasn't me (James) and where the name came from?" the host asked.

Sitting between comedian Jim Gaffigan and Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, Liam replied: "As you can see I'm surrounded by Jameses, so you can't really be the first James anymore, can you? It's not possible.
"So the only logical thing to do was to call him Bear."
After Dawson James VDB joked: "So you're not planning on having him attend middle school?", James C asked: "Where did it come from? What made you for Bear?"
"You know what? When he was born, I think one of the midwives said it, he actually has this thing where if they don't have a good cry, they get fluid on their lungs which is quite serious.
"So he was going 'grrr', growling away when he was sleeping, so I had specialists running in and out of the hospital while my missus was asleep and he was being checked over, and they were like, 'Oh, I'm not really sure, we'll get someone else in'.
"And I had like, ten doctors coming in the room and in the end, one guy was like, 'Dude I'm not being funny, there's nothing wrong with him – just likes to make a lot of noise.
"And that's carried on ever since – so he just became Bear."
The 24-year-old new dad added: "And children live out their name, and he's humongous!"
Their announcement of Bear's name came after TV star Bear Grylls commented on what a blinding name it is on Twitter, which Liam replied to confirming their choice.

Cheryl and Liam welcomed baby Bear on 22nd March, both sharing a picture of their son with his dad and saying he was "already capturing hearts".
Last night Cheryl shut down the red carpet at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude awards wearing a sexy gold sequin dress with a neckline so plunging, it shows off her cleavage stopping just above her belly button. Cheryl then finished the look with seasonal accessories that gave a nod to the cooler weather, including thigh-high boots, tights and a matching velvet belt-style choker necklace.
Has there even been an outfit more made for Cheryl than this? The white sparkly corset, wide leg trousers and white court shoes are giving us major Girls Aloud throwback vibes, and we're not mad about it.

She wore the figure-hugging style to band mate Kimberley Walsh's birthday bash at upmarket restaurant Zuma in London. Whilst Chezza kept accessories to a minimum (i.e. none, apart from her pointy nude courts), she certainly went to town on her makeup, with full-on vampy dark lips and heavy eyeliner. As always, we heart her glossy locks, but wonder if she may have upstaged the birthday gal slightly here?
