We all know how hectic life can get – and how much of a detriment stress is to our health, both mental and physical – which is why it's important to carve out proper time to rest and recharge. Of course, this can be done at home (just blocking out twenty minutes for a candlelit bath or taking a solo walk in nature can make a big impact on your mood), but if you're lucky enough to be able to stay at a hotel that will leave you feeling a shedload better after checking out then... it seems a no brainer that you would, right?

Equally, for those who are lucky enough to travel on the regular, you'll know how hard it can be to keep up a fitness routine while out on the road and living out of a suitcase, and so a hotel with an emphasis on wellbeing (and a decent gym) is certainly a welcome bonus.

Luckily, there are a shedload of fantastic hotels in London that have a real focus on health, wellness and all-things fitness (hello, endorphins and shiny new workout spaces!), ranging from those that have their own Spiritual Concierge (offering up reiki and anxiety-reducing sound baths) to gyms that'd make even the most reluctant of exercisers go weak at the knees (for all the right reasons). There are also wellness-themed hotels that have menus carefully plotted out by nutritionists, so you can feel nourished and energised upon check out, others that offer complimentary yoga classes for guests and some that are just plain perfect to relax and recharge in.

To ensure you only book in with the very best, we've researched and reviewed the best London hotels with great gyms, wellness offerings and more – so that when the time for your stay comes, you'll know exactly what to expect.

You're welcome!

The Marylebone Hotel, near Bond Street

The Marylebone Hotel

Boutique gym Third Space is one of the most famous in town for good reason – and if you stay at The Marylebone Hotel, you get full access to its facilities. Considering there’s a waiting list to join the gym alone, that’s pretty valuable stuff. Alongside state-of-the-art equipment and studios, there’s also a sizeable pool to make the most of, complete with sauna and steam rooms.

But it doesn’t stop there. Thanks to The Marylebone’s unique relationship with other businesses in the area, guests have access to a whole world of wellness possibilities. Until September 2026, The Marylebone is partnering with wellness studio Rebase to launch The Suite Health package; a restorative retreat with bespoke Rebase treatments – think infrared saunas, ice baths and deep tissue massages – followed by a relaxing night’s stay in one of the hotel’s luxurious suites. Dreamy!

What we like best about The Marylebone is that after all of your hard work in the gym and sauna, their rooms really are like a self-care retreat. Comfortable, calm and seriously quiet, your body will enjoy a proper night of rest here. Plus, we can promise you, you’ll never meet a comfier pillow...

  • Best hotel for Pilates

Tucked away behind a colonnade on Soho’s Windmill street, a step back from the frenetic energy of Leicester Square, is Zedwell – an unassuming pocket of calm. The hotel is a pared-down ode to slow living, with minimalist sound-proofed rooms and glowing pod beds that stack together like Tetris blocks. The vibe is quiet and soothing and the sparse rooms bring to mind the life of an ascetic, with the cool addition of rainfall showers, crisp white bed linen and Shaman Coffee, of course.

Just next door you’ll find Chalk W1, Zedwell’s fitness studio partner, offering yoga and pilates minutes from your room. Here, London’s finest yoga, Pilates and meditation teachers are available to teach and guide guests through their practice for a small supplement of £10 per person. There’s also a motivational gym with expert group personal training sessions available to book for £10, as well as massages by an in-house expert for just £15.

Come for the impeccable wabi-sabi vibes, stay for the purified air, Malin + Goetz and meditative mood lighting.

Pan Pacific London, London Liverpool Street

Jack Hardy / Pan Pacific London
  • Best hotel for personalised fitness
If you’re the type of wellness guru who swears by their Oura Ring, you’ll love Pan Pacific London’s data-driven offering. Not only does the hotel boast one of the most impressive relaxation areas in the city - who could say no to an infinity pool overlooking the heart of London? - there’s a range of seriously impressive treatments on offer for guests, for an additional fee.

Most notably, for fitness fans there’s the chance to meet with professional athlete and Human Performance Coach, Robbie Leung, for a comprehensive ‘Body MOT’. The one-of-a-kind, one-on-one experience is designed to help evaluate your heart, lung, muscular and neuromuscular function - providing invaluable insights you can incorporate into your fitness regime.

Leung provides on-the-spot feedback, though the official results come back a few days later when you receive a 40-plus-page report based on the tests you’ve completed, which include a NutriSMART food intolerance and allergy test and a PNOE metabolic test (where a special mask is used to track your oxygen usage). You’re also rated on your balance, agility, strength and endurance, plus your cardiovascular fitness, fat-burning efficiency, and metabolic rate.

If it all sounds rather technical that’s because it is. While all of the tests are simple enough to complete (such as running on a treadmill wearing a mask), you’re treated like a professional athlete, and the results, while easy to understand, will go above and beyond what some gym-goers will be interested in. But if you’re training for an event (say a marathon or Hyrox) or you’re just genuinely curious, the Body MOT is like the ultimate fitness tracker.

Given the luxury setting, it’s not cheap. But if you get the chance to visit - and make the most of the wellness floor - you’ll love every minute of it.

Stays start at £520 for two people sharing a room and include breakfast. The Body MOT is priced at £350. Book your stay here

Canopy by Hilton London

Cosmopolitan UK
  • Best hotel for spin class lovers

If keeping fit is still firmly on your agenda when away from home, might we suggest booking into Canopy by Hilton London (or any of the other Hilton hotels in the UK that are partnered with Peloton)? Yep, the leading hotelier has joined forces with one of the world's best known fitness brands, to offer in-room bikes and workouts for guests. The dream!

To test out this bed-and-bike concept, we stopped over at the Canopy by Hilton London, closest to Aldgate tube, and as soon as we walked into the hotel, found ourselves engulfed in calm – despite being in the bustling city. Everything from the colour palette used throughout (think light, breezy Scandi vibes and blonde wood) to its chilled out, friendly staff adds to the mellow vibes. The rooftop bar and restaurant, Florattica, is also well worth dropping into to catch the sunset or indulge in a mocktail during your stay.

In the bright and airy room itself (which had a mini tray of protein balls waiting to greet us – adorbs!), the Peloton was tucked to one side of the bed and set up right by the window, meaning great views of the city throughout our early morning ride. The bike is free to use but you do need to create an account with Peloton first, although that only takes a few minutes. Once that's done, you can pick from hundreds of spin sessions, lasting different lengths of times and with an array of themes.

If you're a spin newbie, fear not: the Peloton will guide you through setting the bike up, advising on how to position your seat. Don't fancy a sweaty spin? Also not a problem, as Peloton also offers guided meditations that you can indulge in, whilst lying on your comfy Canopy bed.

Rooms start from £195 per night, book your stay at Canopy by Hilton London here

art'otel London Hoxton, Powered by Radisson Hotels

luxury hotel suite with a city skyline view
Art Hotel Hoxton
  • Best hotel for city slickers needing a break

There's a lot to love about the art'otel London Hoxton – and we're not just talking about its newly rejuvenated spa (which delivered one of the best facials we've ever had). As well as knowledgable practitioners who take the time to really personalise the treatment according to your needs, the place has a sleek pool and sauna area to boot.

Everything on the spa menu revolves around the hotel's four pillars of wellbeing (focus, sleep, movement and environment), which make for some pretty unique treatments, ranging from a Stretch & Align massage to an anti-pollution facial. Prices start from £25 for a 15-minute head and shoulder massage.

If a spa day isn't your thing (you okay hun?), you could always head to the hotel's gym which boasts sky high city views or to its buzzy ground floor restaurant, The Brush (it'd be illegal to check out before trying the gorgeous crème brûlée, after all). Failing that, you could see what activities are taking place in the immersive art studio nestled in the hotel's basement, which during our visit meant a 'Yoga + Chill' event by Devine Yoga and Minute Shorts – a 30-minute yoga class followed by thought provoking short films in the hotel's cinema, all designed to spark gratitude and provide an opportunity for self-reflection.

All sound too exciting? Head back to your room (which has a Dyson hair dryer, so feel free to pack light!), chuck your phone in the safe and go analogue by getting to grips with the in-room record player. Close the curtains with the touch of a remote, kick back and enjoy ignoring your to-do list.

Rooms start from £250 per night, book your stay at art'otel here

Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill, Marylebone

  • Best for healthy history buffs

Named after the iconic British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, this hotel is less about his politics and more about embracing the man’s ‘joie de vivre’ (love of life) and other passions, such as art – the hotel features a gallery wall of his paintings, set just back from the lobby – and food.

The fine dining hall boasts a Mediterranean grill house menu along with plenty of British classics (and calories are listed – something we're personally a fan of for making conscious choices, but which admittedly isn’t right for everyone), plus some well-considered mocktails for those forgoing alcohol. Oh, and a cigar menu, naturally.

Situated in the heart of one of London's most boujee boroughs, The Churchill is also in prime position for those who love an early morning run, given it's a ten-minute walk (or perhaps a five-minute sprint, depending on your pace!) from Hyde Park, one of the city’s best green spots. For those who prefer to exercise indoors, the gym is well-kept and includes failsafe Technogym equipment (as well as a decent array of weights and resistance bands), and offers a relaxing vibe thanks to the blonde wood decor and lighting. At 8am on a weekday, it was certainly in use but not so busy that it was impossible to get a solid workout in.

Fancy getting your fitness on in a slightly different way? The hotel also offers guests the chance to hire tennis equipment, so you can take a turn playing on its private court nestled within the Portman Square gardens directly opposite – a delightful rare gem in the heart of London.

Room rates start from £312 per night, book your stay at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill here

The Prince Akatoki London, Marble Arch

modern hotel room featuring a bed seating area and desk
Jennifer Savin
  • Best hotel for tranquility

The Prince Akatoki London, which prides itself on bringing a touch of Japanese tranquility to the heart of London, is all about providing a sense of zen for guests – be it from the carefully considered lighting in the rooms (some of which come complete with a TV above the bath) to the mini bar drink options, which include flavoured yerba mate for a natural caffeine hit and cold green tea.

Each room also has a yoga mat ready and waiting for you, and an in-room media centre, offering guided yoga routines, stretching sessions and meditations to help you unwind.

As well as a clean and calming gym space to exercise in (complete with a good range of equipment, chilled face towels and a Peloton bike), there's the TOKii restaurant on-site. Think: dimly lit corners to decompress in and enjoy the delicious fresh sushi on offer, which won't leave you feeling sluggish or bloated after. The staff are all super polite, kind and helpful, too.

Kimpton Fitzroy London by IHG Hotels & Resorts

the clean and modern gym and an in room shot at the kimpton fitzroy london
Will Pryce/Kimpton London Fitzroy by IHG Hotels
  • Best hotel for opulence

When it comes to finding a five star hotel steeped in history and opulent design, with a healthy dose of what's cutting edge in the world of wellness today, the Kimpton Fitzroy London by IHG has no competition.

Designed and built back in the late 1800s/early 1900s, by one Charles Fitzroy Doll – yep, the man who designed the Titanic and whose name sparked the expression 'all dolled up' – this hotel feels like stepping back in time. Think decadent mosaic floors in the lobby, grand sprawling staircases, marbled walls and a dining room to die for, serving delicious British classics and boasting an extensive wine menu. Yet, against this 'wait, am I in a movie right now?' backdrop, there's a sturdy focus on the health and wellbeing of guests too.

Kimpton Fitzroy London by IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Technogym, allowing guests to access fitness content via the app from the comfort of their plush rooms, along with the Swell Sound Therapy app. While it's hard to imagine anyone struggling to sleep in such well maintained surroundings, the latter noise app has been specially designed to help lower the heart rate and induce deep, calming slumber.

Elsewhere, you can also dip into the hotel's Stay Well menu which gives guests the opportunity to borrow everything from a Theragun body massager to Recovery Wave compression boots, or order Ross J Barr sleep patches (he's Meghan Markle's acupuncturist, fyi) up to the comfort of their room.

If in the morning the well-equipped gym isn't quite your thing, the Kimpton Fitzroy London by IHG also provides local running and walking plans (via customised Google Map routes) – helping you hit the sights and your step count for the day.

Rooms start from £247 with the average rate for double occupancy standard rooms beginning at £400. Book your stay at Kimpton Fitzroy London by IHG here

Glass House Retreat, Upminster

  • Best for getting out of the city

Ok, so while this purpose built health farm/hotel isn't in London, it's less than an hour's drive away from some parts of the city and is easily accessible by train. It's also pretty darn good value compared to some LDN prices.

So, what's this zen zone all about? Glass House Retreat, set in the glorious Essex countryside, is an all-vegan, all-things-wellbeing hub, complete with a gym, plunge pool, cryotherapy chamber and safe space workshops – on everything from body image to goal setting. Before even checking in, you're asked to place your food order for the coming day(s), meaning that once you cross the threshold, you can officially leave all the stress and decision-making at the door. Besides working out which pool you want to spend your time lounging by, of course (indoors or plunge pond?).

The meals – all included btw – were a highlight. All are super fresh, nutritionally balanced and crucially... delicious. The bento box and the breakfast pancakes are a must, and you can choose whether you'd like a bigger or smaller portion size too. P.S. if you've forgotten your wellies, you can borrow a pair to go strolling, along with camping chairs and a blanket, and take in the beautiful sunsets of an evening – very restorative.

Prices from £232 per person per night for 2 nights based on 2 people sharing a room, book your stay here

The Westin London City

  • Best hotel for in-room workouts

When it comes to opportunities to boost your wellbeing, you're more than covered at the Westin London City: the entire hotel is built around 'six core pillars of wellness' – eat well, move well, feel well, be well, sleep well and play well – and has something available to help you seamlessly tick off each box.

From its gym equipment lending service (it was super easy to borrow workout gear, including weighted bangles and resistance bands, to exercise with in the privacy of our room with) to its monthly Rise & Run club, this hotel is the perfect choice for any fitness fan.

And if your stay doesn't overlap with the running club? No bother, strap on your trainers and take yourself off for a solo sprint along the Thames – running maps are available from the gym and the views should serve as good enough motivation. Failing that, hit up the hotel's state-of-the-art, 24-hour gym (or call upon its in-house PT), which comes complete with massage guns, a sauna, steam room, ice fountain and sensory shower. There's also a serene pool, which is adults-only for most of the day, for getting your lengths in.

As for food? You'll be spoilt for choice. If you're feeling indulgent, head to the Hithe + Seek wine bar for small plates and a glass of something delicious from their extensive menu, complete with stunning views of Shakespeare's Globe theatre (they also have unreal bar snacks, including truffle and pecorino nuts that you'll be thinking about for the rest of time). Or, sticking with the wellness theme, head to the hotel's Mosaic restaurant and order from the nutritionally conscious 'eat well' menu, which also allows you to control your portion size (we can highly recommend the tofu poké bowl and pan-seared chicken).

Other things we loved about the Westin London City? Breakfast is served until noon on a weekend, so there's no rushing after your morning swim or sweat sesh. Also, the in-room coffee machines comes with portable cups, so you won't have to down your java if you're rushing out the door to check out. It's the many little touches like this that make this hotel feel so special.

NYX Hotel London Holborn

a swimming pool in a building
NYX Holborn
  • Best budget hotel for gym and swim

Y'know when you walk into a hotel and it just has a good energy to it? Well, that's what NYX Holborn offers – and more. It has fun, youthful vibes from the second you walk into the lobby (hello, cocktail bar) but on the fitness front, also has a fair offering.

As well as access to its gym (which while not huge is clean and has everything you need for a decent full body workout when away from home and your typical gym), allows guests the opportunity to swim, use the steam room and, should they desire, book in for a spa treatment. (The speedy facial comes highly recommended from us)

The gym is just off from the spa too, meaning you don't have to have to awkwardly skulk the corridor in a bathrobe post-workout and there's easy locker storage facilities.

We recommend getting up early doors to use the pool whilst it's quiet (and heads up: although it's not encouraged, children are allowed into the spa area too... so you may encounter a rogue 4-year-old if you don't plan ahead).

Rooms start from £190 per night, book your stay at NYX Hotel London Holborn here

The Mandrake Hotel

  • Best hotel for luxury wellness

Entering The Mandrake is like stepping into another world – which is exactly what the hotel's design team had in mind upon creation. The entrance takes you down a long dark corridor, making you feel like whatever's going on 'out there in the real world' is no longer a concern of yours. Overall, The Mandrake has been designed to mimic 'the journey from hell to heaven', starting with heavier tones on the dark first floor and getting lighter and brighter as you journey up (the hotel's Spiritual Wellbeing Concierge works out of the airy penthouse suite, which basically leaves you feeling like you've died and gone to literal heaven).

So, what is a Spiritual Wellbeing Concierge you may ask? Well, as part of the venue's emphasis on wellness (there's even a chakra-cleansing mirror by the lifts), guests have the option to book in for nervous system-calming experiences, such as reiki or sound healing. There's also free yoga for anyone staying on a weekend.

During my mid-week visit (that I arrived to feeling frazzled), I booked in for my first ever reiki session with Maria, who kindly guided me through and answered all my questions. I spent the next 45 minutes feeling like I was on the edge of a deep sleep, with lots of slow-moving poignant thoughts circulating... that evaporated as soon as the session ended. Despite lying still on a bed the entire time, I sometimes felt as though I was on a boat, which was an interesting and not unpleasant sensation, and afterwards, I was somehow less stiff than when I arrived. It felt like I'd actually managed to shut off my racing mind for a good chunk of time – a real rarity.

Having been lucky enough to stay in many London hotels throughout my time, I can hand on heart say that The Mandrake's playful, stress-relieving vibes mean it's now one of my absolute favourites (even the mini bar snacks are healthier than your average, with protein bars stocked alongside quinoa chips... and on the topic of food, its restaurant, YOPO, serving small plates would be the perfect date spot). I'm already plotting my next visit.

Rooms start from £309 per night (treatments come at an additional cost), book your stay at The Mandrake here

St Martins Lane Hotel

  • Best hotel for thermal baths

Previously, guests at the St Martins Lane hotel, situated in the heart of Covent Garden, would be granted free access to its neighbouring fitness studio, Gymbox. Alas, that site has now sadly closed its doors – but to make up for that, the hotel's very own gym has undergone a recent refurbishment. Thanks to its update, it's now fully equipped to offer guests everything they need for a total body workout in a cool, clean space. For those who'd rather chase their endorphins in the great outdoors, St Martins Lane also offers five different running maps – catering to various abilities – that allow you to take in some key city sights to boot.

The hotel also has a special spa offering for guests, due to a unique partnership with AIRE Ancient Baths (set just a few minutes walk away) – meaning anyone staying at St Martins Lane will receive 15% off entry (prices start at £98). If you've never been, they're really something. Picture this: an underground, candlelit utopia of various thermal baths, where you can experiment with temperature ;and even hear music playing underwater. Although not cheap, it's a super luxurious experience that'll leave you floating all the way back to your hotel room.

Rooms start from £295 per night, book your stay at St Martins Lane here

The Standard, King's Cross

best hotels in london for health wellness gym
Courtesy of The Standard
  • Best for a fun workout

Let us be clear when we say we love The Standard hotel – it's top tier when it comes to immaculate London vibes (hello, rooftop drinks, fun dinner options and a retro 70s aesthetic that exudes cool). But beyond that, this hotel now offers some pretty nifty health and wellness perks too... quite literally, as it has partnered with fitness studio, Perk (which also delivers some very tongue-in-cheek throwback feels. Think: 80s workout gear, bright colours and serious gains).

Guests who check in at The Standard are now able to scan a QR code and access a 7-day free trial with the workout method that's famed for bringing the burn, along with in-room routines to follow. Better still, Perk offers those staying at The Standard a free in-person session at its East London studio (although admittedly this is a 30-minute journey from the hotel, so you may not have time to factor that into your stopover).

Elsewhere, The Standard has its own on-site gym complete with a) a Peloton b) plenty of other equipment for a decent full-body sesh (including free weights) and c) a display of old school workout material, such as a Thighmaster and any 80s aerobic VHS you could care to think of. Honestly, we admire the commitment to the theme.

Book in, have fun, sweat it out!

Room rates start from £199 per night, book your stay at The Standard here
