I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has been over for a few weeks now, but the fallout from the show is still keeping us well and truly invested. From GK Barry opening up about how her time in the jungle helped her find herself, to Maura Higgins revealing the tea from the group chat the celebs share. Tulisa Contostavlos is another contestant from this year's series who has been sharing details of the experience, particularly when it comes to how her mental health has been impacted.
After releasing a statement about feeling "overwhelmed" following her exit — which prompted her to miss the show's finale and delete the photos posted on her behalf while in the jungle — the N-Dubz singer has now opened up even further, explaining that she dealt with "anxiety attacks" during her time on the hit ITV series.
Speaking to The Mirror this weekend, Tulisa said there were a lot of things that fans "didn't see".
"I had night terrors for the first four days," she told the paper. "I was waking up out of my sleep, and I was having anxiety attacks."
Despite struggling with this, Tulisa said it's unlikely fans would have picked up on this through their TV screens, as she has developed coping mechanisms and puts on a cool exterior. Things came to a head for Tulisa during an off-camera panic attack during which she considered leaving, but changed her mind.
"I was like, 'Okay, get the heart rate down. Get the heart rate down'," she recalled. "I wanted to leave that day. I was like, 'I can't do this but it's not what I came here for'."
Everyone's clicking on...
Later taking to Instagram to promote the second instalment of a podcast interview she's done with Married At First Sight's Paul Brunson, the singer said: "I know that honesty and vulnerability are key to authenticity."
"I have the honesty covered and I'm working on the vulnerability," she continued. "It's what makes us human and enables us to connect with others. I hope others can take something from my story."
We're sending lots of love and good vibes to Tulisa!
