30 times celebrities powerfully normalised breastfeeding
Breastfeeding shouldn't be a taboo, and these famous faces are reminding us of that...
Breastfeeding, despite being an entirely natural bodily function and literally necessary for helping to keep a baby alive, is sadly too often speckled with shame for many. Disappointingly, there are still stories of feeding mothers who have suffered abuse – or who been sidelined – by daring to do it outside of a public toilet. (Reminder: this is even though it's actually illegal for anyone – be it in a coffee shop, cafe or on public transport – to ask a breastfeeding woman to leave on that basis).
Some small-minded people are why it's a) so refreshing and b) actually kinda crucial to see celebrities proudly normalising breastfeeding, by posting beautiful, intimate photographs of themselves doing it as a reminder that it is so, so normal. Sharing these images of breastfeeding are also a great way to facilitate conversations around some of the struggles that can accompany feeding a little one too, from mastitis (ouch! If you know, you know) to finding your milk supply is running low or dry. Heck, Ashley Graham is even out here showing twin breastfeeding life!
Here are just some of the empowering famous faces, from Jenna Dewan to Cardi B (in a music video, no less!), with platforms who are making a difference by helping to remove the stigma surrounding breastfeeding. Shout out to all of them for moving the dial that little bit further forward:

Cat is Cosmopolitan UK's features editor covering women's issues, health and current affairs. news, features and health. The route to her heart is a simple combination of pasta and cheese (somewhat ironic considering the whole health writing thing), and she finds it difficult to commit to TV series so currently has about 14 different ones on the go.
Jennifer Savin is Cosmopolitan UK's multiple award-winning Features Editor, who was crowned Digital Journalist of the Year for her work tackling the issues most important to young women. She regularly covers breaking news, cultural trends, health, the royals and more, using her esteemed connections to access the best experts along the way. She's grilled everyone from high-profile politicians to A-list celebrities, and has sensitively interviewed hundreds of people about their real life stories. In addition to this, Jennifer is widely known for her own undercover investigations and campaign work, which includes successfully petitioning the government for change around topics like abortion rights and image-based sexual abuse. Jennifer is also a published author, documentary consultant (helping to create BBC’s Deepfake Porn: Could You Be Next?) and a patron for Y.E.S. (a youth services charity).
