Kosas beauty review: our tried-and-tested picks

I put Hailey Bieber's go-to concealer to the test...

kosas review

If Hailey Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner's choice in beauty brands are anything to go by, you know we had to give Kosas a go – a makeup-skincare hybrid collection, harnessing the best of both worlds. Hannah Montana would be proud.

It's giving: "I saw Hailey Bieber wearing the Kosas concealer, so I bought the Kosas concealer". IYKYK.

Celebs aside, Sheena Yaitanes, biology graduate and founder of Kosas tells Cosmopolitan UK that it's her passion for science and cosmetics that led to an interest in innovation and formulation, laying the foundations for Kosas' key values. "I'm sending a message that there's nothing flawed from the outside, there’s only pure love that you want to reflect from the inside and Kosas allows your truest self to shine," she says.

And so, with the consumer's inner beauty at the heart of everything she does, it's no surprise that since its launch circa eight years ago that the brand has gone from strength to strength. The buzz on TikTok (#Kosas has gathered over 200 million views) also helps OFC, and fashion's most popular It Girls signal their love for the product line-up on the reg. The social media phenomenon recently made its mark in the UK, launching via beauty hotspots Sephora and Space NK.

So, with *most* of the products within reaching distance (I mean, there are 27 Space NKs in London, a girl need not search too far), I had to put said hype to the test. To preface, the formulas are clean, comfortable to wear, and clinically tested with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, peptides and squalene included.

Here are my honest thoughts on Kosas and which products you need in your life RN...

KOSAS Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer and Daytime Eye Cream

Like me, if you're a TikTok junkie, you may have seen this very concealer being used on the reg (and loved) by Hailey Bieber. And if it's good enough for the glazed doughnut skin Queen, it's good enough for me.

Being the natural beauty that Hailey is, I assumed this formula would have minimal coverage. But how wrong was I. Think: full enough to cover my [designer] eye bags but with a creamy, blendable finish. Not to mention the flexible doe foot applicator, making for easy practise.

If you're tempted into purchasing one thing, let it be this.

KOSAS Revealer Skin Improving Foundation SPF25

As a full-coverage gal with incredibly oily skin, the task of finding a foundation that works can be – somewhat – a challenge. And with a natural dewy finish, admittedly, my expectations weren't too high for the Revealer Skin Improving Foundation.

Alas, I, of course, gave it a go and was proved very wrong! Pessimism is never the answer, folks.

While it does give a glow, its finish is natural and dreamy with buildable coverage. And the powerhouse blend of hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, peptides and squalane all work to hydrate, brighten and soothe. Truly, my pores never looked so good.

Oh, and did I mention that it's non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic (aka, won't clog pores or break you out) and hypoallergenic?

KOSAS Cloud Set Setting Powder

As I've already disclaimed (many, many times), having an oily skin type requires me to thoroughly set my base products. So, a loose powder is, naturally, my preference of choice.

The Cloud Set Bake, however, is a pressed compact, making for a lighter beat. In this case, I would recommend it for the dryer skin types among us.

Although not my favourite in the line, I can appreciate that it is for those looking for a more sheer, more natural finish. Sweeping away the shine, rather than the glow, IYGM.

Wear test:

Eight and a half hours later and this oily, sweaty gworl still has her base intact (albeit a lack of colour on the lips... I blame the multiple packs of crisps consumed).

Impressive, much?

No under-eye creases, I repeat, NO UNDER-EYE CREASES!

KOSAS Wet Lip Oil Plumping Treatment Gloss

Sitting at a more affordable price to some of its competitors (no names mentioned), Kosas' lip oil is any glossy girl's dream.

The sheen provides an appearance of a fuller pout, however, I beg to differ with such statements of plumping.

Yes, the vinyl slick improves firmness and hydration, but if you're after a dramatic, yet temporary, no-injections-needed type result, perhaps a volumising formula is for you.

If you've got a heavy hand (no, because same), then you may want to proceed with caution because this 'brow gel may be small in size but it sure does pack a punch when it comes to pigment.

Now, as someone who is experiencing bleached brow regrowth (it's giving George Clooney's salt and pepper locks), I can't go without this wonder. One swipe does plenty, as they say.

But if brunette is not your colour, fear not for the brand also have this very formula in a clear gel.

An 'Eye Gel Watercolor Eyeshadow' this is, for it's softly diffused pay-off and hydrating feel.

The applicator is very easy to work with, allowing the super bendable formula to glide on with ease. So, if you're wanting (read: require) an extra five minutes in bed or in need of a brightening wash of colour, look no further than to this liquid shadow that comes in six warm golden tones. No man left behind.
